I think Matt was supposed to be going for the under produced feel on this album. Maybe not under produced, but just not as giant as Avalanche. I'm under the impression that it's just real simple music, with the well thought/crafted lyrics.

I think Matt Good is probably the best artist of all time imo. He never fails to impress me, and with the two songs that i've heard from the new cd, I am convinced that I will never be disapointed with him.

its nice to see that the set is being changed up a bit, its only a week into the tour and besides playing all the songs off the new album he has also worked all these into the set.

Hawksley Workman is indie only because people think he's so frigging weird.

My vote is that Matt makes electric folk music.

Matt's music really all only fits into alternative rock. No sub-group. I mean, you look at aob and then at undrdogs and they are quite different.

all pre-lotga stuff was folky as hell.
lotga was indy, definitely.
underdogs was grunge.
beautiful midnight was alt-rock, as was aob.
avalanche is harder to classify. it's mostly alt-rock, but at the same time it became more personal singer-songwriter-y whilst simultaneously developing a bigger, more epic sound.

and man, much as I love the genre, matt is nowhere near emo.
