I think it depends on the theatre. Some places just don't give a damn, but sometimes if you have something obvioud in plain view they'll stop you.

Theatres around here won't let you have outside food in if they see it.

I dunno how much people actually care at my theaters. I mean, most of them are teenagers mad about having to stand there and rip tickets rather than sit and watch movies all day like they expected when they got this job to pay for their mother's surgery, which wouldn't even be necessary if he hadn't gotten a job in the first place, because his being away all day meant he couldn't care for her, and so one day when alone she slipped and hit her head and got appendicitis, and he came home to find her on the floor and called the hospital, and then quit his job at the restaurant because he had to help his mother, then when the medical bill came he couldn't get the restaurant job back and so he worked at the movie, as I said to begin with, so as he rips tickets he's too busy imagining his mother's face on them to notice use bringing in food, even if we were to explain to him that he'd be losing money by us bringing in food and not buying it there, and eventually we'd just give up and go see the movie, Batman Begins, which was far better than I had expected, actually, with Christian Bale far surpassing my expectations, and the plot absolutely engaging, with many subplots and interesting little details that most movies don't have, like HULK, which sucked, as those of you who saw it know (I'm one of them, man that sucked), except for Eric Bana, who is a pretty decent actor most of the time, at least, he's consistent anyway, which is more than you can say for, say, Natalie Portman, who will be making you cry one scene and making you question the casting director's sanity in choosing her, the exception to this being Garden State, in which she is absolutely amazing all the way through, but that's mostly because Zach BRaff kicks ass, so she can't really be given credit for it, since the Scrubs actor probably did most of the work, like I imagine he does on Scrubs, one of the best shows on television these days, I think, with superb humor that sounds like when my friends and I joke around about the loser ticket ripper who doesn't notice our food.
I just wanna get out,
Stuck inside of this.
Waiting for something else,

Same. And theatre food is HIGHWAY ROBBERY. So basically we sneak it in, in stealth, from the dollar store . We buy a little variety and split it all once we're in. Once we got caught, when I was in Grade seven, in the city, and we flushed all the unopened bags of food/bottles of drink in the toilets.

I still feel guilty about that to this day

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever

Yeah you're right that's a very common problem lots of people who work in cinemas have mothers who got appendicitis by hitting their heads and you've convinced me to never watch Scrubs.
