Strong Alibi wrote:Yeah, and Raine addresses this in a 2008 interview:

Interviewer: It seemed like you were trying to become a more direct lyricist even before this album - the last few Our Lady Peace albums weren't nearly as metaphorical as what you were doing on Naveed or Spiritual Machines.

Raine: Yeah, I know. That's something that I'm struggling with. I might be able to get back to that place. I think that was definitely Bob Rock trying to push me in that direction. I'm not sure how comfortable I am with that, to be honest.

It's sad how he said he only "might be able" to get back to that place. That's how much of an influence Bob Rock had on his voice and his musical artistic ability. I think it's the main reason we've seen less creativity (i.e. divergence from the mainstream) in the newer albums, although from the songs I've heard in Burn Burn they've got some of it back.

I'd never read that. Thank you, very interesting

And for those of you in the US, wonder about the poll. It's getting alot closer

What's your favourite new music video?

Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow - 31%
Eminem - We Made You - 21%
U2 - Magnificent - 8%
Shinedown - Second Chance - 5%
Our Lady Peace - All You Did Was Save My Life - 35%
Total Votes 784

hit that poll hard - pass it around , get your friends to vote, etc - let's get AYD to the top where it belongs!

What's the significance of these polls? Will it result in more airplay for the band? If so, there are only 34 people standing between hearing the Black Eyed Peas and OLP on every station.

Huh. Wouldn't it be cool if some fan taped that whole concert on their MiniDV cam?

Just a shout out that the more I listen to AYD the more I fall in love with it... it can be a very emotional song if you're going through something... for me a friend's daughter has been diagnosed with cancer, and is hopefully going to be transfered to St. Jude's hospital for treatment, but it's not a good situation. The song, especially the last half, is a lot like all those old OLP songs that got me through some tough times. Sorry to get all mushy I'm just sayin.

Look at the bar with pictures at the top. Click on the one with the checkmark and pencil. After that, click Connection Settings. Then "Firewall (passive, last resort)." Then just double click Matt's (xjsb125) name, and go to the audio mp3's and it should be under Our Lady Peace.
