I don't know what I'll do when Bailey (my dog) dies. It was different with our first dog, she was technically "my dog" but she never really was. From day one her and my mom were best friends .. plus since I wasn't there when she died I didn't see it and it was easier to deal with I guess. With Bai it's going to be different. This is my boy and he knows it .. I treat him like I would a kid. He fell down the stairs the other day and I swear I almost had a heart attack. I followed him around for awhile afterwards to make sure he was okay. Clumsy goof.

He's still struggling. I tried to feed him, but when he stood up, he fell back over, so I realized that was a bad idea. I gave him a bowl of water, and he loved that so much he fell over and knocked it over. fucking cat. Always making me smile, even when I'm crying so much that I gave myself a headache.

I guess I've come to terms with it. We did spend 20 years together. That's a long fucking time for a cat to live. I just wish he felt better the past couple years because I feel really guilty not being a man and having something done about his health. It just hurts watching him struggle to breathe as he looks at me. But I know when I am sitting by him he feels really comfortable. He always did. Hell, he would purr at me if his tail was touching my body. It didn't take a whole lot to keep my little guy happy, even though he's been close to death for four years.

I'm going to miss that son of a bitch. Meh.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

I woke up to find my cat dead.

So last night he tried to get up to walk to my room to say goodbye, he fell down, and died with my mom. He did make it until the morning to say goodbye to my dad, but couldn't make it to my room to wake me up. He was only taking in breath maybe once every minute or minute and a half, so this is best for him. It just kills me because I ran to my bathroom this morning to see if he was there, and his box was empty. I'll never see the only thing that's been with me every single day for the past twenty years again.

Now I get to bury him in my flower bed in the backyard and go to work. Great, I get to deal with people and their stupid questions for 8 1/2 hours just after burying my best friend.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

I'm sorry to hear that Alan. It sounded like a very loyal and caring friend. 20 years is a long time for a cat and that in itself is something to be thankful for.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

That's really horrible, Alan. After twenty years I can completely understand how much your cat meant to you. That's an amazingly long life for a cat. Wow. I'm sure you can be strong and get through this.

What Dom?

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever
