Our favorite author has updated her site, explaining why "No News is Good News":
"I have nothing noteworthy to report, because I have been spending nearly all my time sitting in front of my computer writing, re-writing and taking the occasional break to bang my head off the desk in frustration or else rub my hands together in fiendish glee (I think the latter has happened once). Meanwhile, the distance between the keyboard and yours truly increases day by day as my third child races Harry's next adventure into the world."
So it's J.K. Rowling's third child and the sixth Harry Potter in a dead heat...who'll make it here first? We don't know, but it does seem to mean the two will not be far apart! J.K. Rowling's child is due sometime in the spring.
Jo has also updated her rumor section to say that rumors of Harry leaving the Dursleys to stand trial again in book six are false, and that he leaves Privet Drive early for a "much pleasanter reason than a court case."

A much "pleasanter reason" eh? What ever could that be?

My guess is finally finding a happy, permanent home with someone.

very much doubt that, actually. that's why sirius died, in my opinion. cuz if he had lived harry would've moved in with him and then wouldn't be protected by the whole "living where mother's blood lives" deal and voldemort could've gotten him any time.
who knows? mrs. weasley did say they'd have him out of privet drive as soon as they could at the end of the fifth book. maybe he just goes to stay at the burrow for the hell of it. or maybe he's made head boy and everyone wants to celebrate. except that can't happen until book 7, can it?

But isn't the mother living blood thing void now for the same reason that Voldemort can know touch Harry without being burned? Maybe he is not going to live at Hogwarts on a permanent basis so he can be protected by Dumbledoore.

Naw, Katie Bell has the most seniority.
Besides what does that have to do with him leaving home?

i dunno, i don't understand that. this is just me theorizing, but voldemort couldn't touch harry before because his mother's sacrifice left a mark on him. he was full of a power that voldemort despised - love. voldemort gets over this by taking harry's blood. but i think the "protected while he can still call home the place where his mother's blood dwells" is a separate part of the protection. voldemort can touch him outside privet drive, but not while he's still at privet drive. in any case, though, he is protected while he stays at privet drive because dumbledore says so at the end of the fifth book.
also something to think about, voldemort takes harry's blood, so he also takes lily's blood. lily's blood is the one with the protection, and it's the one that is full of love. i dunno what it means, but it's probably very significant. the fact that voldemort can touch harry now means that he's got a little bit of love in him now. maybe
