Neil down and obey.. wrote:Thats why Xbox is so damn great...nooooo memory cards ever needed

The hard drive is also one of the reasons Microsoft loses money on every X-Box they sell. :P

Cool though.

Hey I've been meaning to post this for a while now, as I've known about it for like a month! And the whole thing about the NO Memory cards made me remember!!

I read in an article from GMR magazine, a video game magazine you can pick up from EB Games about the new Xbox system.

I have the mag with me, so I'll post parts of the article.

Rumors circulating around the industry hint that Microsoft will unveil Xbox 2 at the upcoming Game Developers Conference where the initial graphics demo and harware specs will be shown.

Then it says that more concrete stuff like games will be shown at E3 in may. Anyway Continuing on!!

Aside from what's already fairly common knowledge- the CPU appears to be a G5 (it's a MAC!) backed up by a megapowerful graphics chip from ATI and loads of ram

Okay did you guys read that part correctly??? Yes, it's true, Microsoft is using and APPLE CPU. I kid you not.

It also continues on to say: There's also a distinct possibility that Xbox 2 will NOT have a hard drive. Since it's an expensive component that so few Xbox games use, Microsoft seems to be strongly considering a different Approach. A modular hard drive available seperately a la PS2? Memory Cards based on Compact Flash/SD Tehnology? Consider these distinct possibilities.

It then says that this will probably speed up Sony's plans and that The PS3 will probably be shown in Japan in April 2004, and in the USA at E3 in may!!!

So yeah if you got the second part, probably no HD for the Xbox either!!! Crazy Stuff...

That's a rumor.....I did hear something about the f'ing mac situation though. But anyways, if I can find the link to what I was reading about it.......its not only going to have a hard drive, but a bigger one I believe.

I can't foresee Microsoft dumping the hard drive......especially when they know that's what a lotta people love about it. That was a big seller for me, not spending forty freakin dollars on a couple little shitty ass plastic cards.

That PSX thing that's coming out is going to have a hard drive too, correct?? Apparently Sony realized something.

I heard that there probably will not be a hard drive in order to cut costs. Instead they have inlisted a flash card maker to handel storage. That and a lot of people arent using the hard drive function to its full advantage. Secondly computer hackers have been able to turn the x-box into a computer simply by fooling around with various components. However the proccess relys completely on the hard drive, thus it makes sense that microsoft would eliminate it to stop hacking.

Well, if they go about it in THAT way then I can't foresee a problem because at least they are working on a roundabout way to avoid having to buy shitty ass little plastic whorebag memory cards.

They arent that bad are they? I own quite a few games and just one memory card and 3 quarters of it left. The only thing i cant do is store music.. and such. Mind you that would be awesome but i have a computer for that.

Exactly. I've never needed a second card, and my computer suits me just fine for storing anything else...

Well I can't say its JUST the memory card that made me sell my Gamecube and my PS2 in order to simply stick with the seX-box. It's also the fact that PS2 graphics eat clean-shaven donkey balls compared to Xbox. Not to mention that no matter what game you play, the dialup homos have no shot at Xbox Live so my games run smoothy pretty much all the time.
It was pretty sad to go to a friend's house and play Madden 2004......just visually comparing it to ESPN Football on Xbox made me wanna cry. I know Xbox has more nuts cuz I then invited him and several other of my friends who has sworn by Gaystation to come checkout the xbox for the first time......and 2 outta 5 of them have bought tha'box.
