Every now and then I fall out into open air just to feel the wind, rain and everything.
And though the hum and sway gets me down
, I'll find the way to peace and openness.

Yeah. That should help out a bit.

Also, head over to http://junos.ctv.ca/# and watch the backstage interview with OLP. It's a pretty good one.

everydayfear wrote:Raine's vocals were way off, Steve struggled through some of the opening guitar bits, and the mix was awful. There was way too much bass and the vocals were barely there for parts of the song. The absence of Mike E. also made a big difference. I like OLP's live songs a lot better when they layer the guitars by having two players.

I've heard Raine's vocals much worse, but I do agree that the song sounded a little empty, like not enough guitar. All in all, though, I like it.

My personal opinion

Best song OLP has ever done. Hands down. Even beats Naveed.
When the consequence of rage comes through the living room floor.

This really has nothing to do with this topic, but i thought i'd just let everyone know... :freak: you know raine's dog, shanti? well, i have a friend named shanti...and guess what her little brother's name is?....

cookies to everyone who guesses right!

(yes, it is raine!)

dude, not afraid kicks ass...i really like the new guitar stuff with steve, and there was some falsetto in there...i liked those lyrics a lot better than any of gravity too...really edgy, that was badass
wrapped my hurt in you
took my shelter in that pain
the opiate of blame
is your broken heart

hmmm, I wonder if the studio version will capture Raine's enthusiasm........and if any problems that had live can be ironed out.........

Personally I loved this song live........its so energetic.....you can feel it when the perform.......I never felt this much in Gravity......

That's what I like most about this song; the energy.

yeah, the lyrics aren't too great, but I think this song holds promise for OLP.

When I listened, I could hear the OLP in the song.
It took me a while to hear the OLP in gravity
if that makes any sense...?

If the rest of the songs on the cd are like this, it's gonna be ok, I think. Yeah, it won't be another Naveed, or Happiness, or SM, but it WON'T be another Gravity, and that's all I'm worried about.

In my opinion, another Gravity = losing about 75% of the dedicated fans.
and the dedicated fans are the ones that will you will want to keep, in the long run.
I mean, I can't possibly see any 14 year old travelling 400 miles to see a concert.
Dedicated fans do this so often, it's not even a big deal.

ok, enough ranting for such early a morning.
HARDCORE!!!

OMG. I can't believe I din't think fo you
until now because when I think on
a scale of one to ten you're like YWELVE.
No, seriously?

I <3 my HLP!!!!!

I think that's a terribly bleak estimation........they'll still retain a good fan base if songs like Not Afraid are released.

The lyrics in this song are simple, but I like them. You don't always need complicated word structures to create good lyrics. Not Afraid has many lines that are more about the feeling.........and the meaning is something we give to ourselves. He doesn't drown it out in specifics..........its hard to explain, but the lyrics worked for me. I just hope that some of his other songs do challenge us a bit more.

Anyhow, anyone looking for another Naveed, Happiness, or SM should go look somewhere else......they've been done.....

You can't forget that these guys probably didn't even get much of a soundcheck for the song, especially considering the announcer didn't even know that they weren't doing Innocent. That might explain the poor sound quality
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

Hey all,

You'll be glad to know another dedicated source for Not Afraid has arrived.

Point your browser to http://www.wright-onthe-web.com/olp/olp.htm

To thank me you can start by visiting the links listed on the page there.

Or if your near detroit you can always pay for tix to thier next show :)

But if your really cheap I spose messages calling me a god, king of all kings, or just telling me how much I rule are ok.

If someone has the actual video and is on the hub lemme know and I can get that posted up as well.

Enjoy!
