First of all, that depends on your definition of "rock".

In my opinion, OLP have gone through 5 phases...

- Post-Grunge (Naveed)
- Alternative Rock (Clumsy)
- Alternative (Happiness...)
- Art Rock (Spiritual Machines)
- Pop Rock (Gravity)

Every now and then I fall out into open air just to feel the wind, rain and everything.
And though the hum and sway gets me down
, I'll find the way to peace and openness.

"The white dove is gone, the one world has come down hard, so why not share the pain of our problems, when all around are wrong ways, when all around is hurt, i'll roll up in an odd shape and wait, untill the tide has turned.....with anger, i'm dead weight, i'm anchored"- IME, God Rocket (Into the Heart of Las Vegas) ^ Some say this song is about a terrorists thoughts before 911

art rock and a difference between alternative and alternative rock? jesus.
we are the brand new beatniks. we are the down and outers.
we are the bleeding hearts, beating syncopated, broken rhythm.
our speed is often break neck. we need to slow it down.
tired of being sleepless. tired of being broken.

i always considered alternative more .......strange or unique, altrock is more unique rock or very different rock, that doesn't really fit in with basic rock

Hehe... old thread...

I just saw an interview with Metallica, and they were talking about Bob Rock.

Lars said something that EXACTLY describes the way people here reacted to Rock and Gravity...

Lars wrote:We had the perfect out. I mean, if people liked something, we did it. If they didn't like it, Rock fucked up our album.

Basically, my point is that everyone (including me, in some ways) was so quick to blame Rock for everything bad on Gravity, and will probably do the same with the next. We just need to put things in perspective and think about how OLP are the major players in the recording, not Rock.

Actually, I don't really have anything new to bring up. I just thought that quote was extremely fitting, even if it did come nine months late.

I disagree.

Most people ahve problems with the lyrics. And Raine said himself that Rock made him change the lyrics... simplify them.

Also, I personally don't like the way it sounds.... but i think that's the mixer[?]

Anyways, just thought i would bring up my 2 cents.
