I booked my room tonight at the HoJo. $99 CAD for the evening and cancelable (not a word, I know) up to the day of arrival. Not a bad deal. I'll be heading up on the 30th or 31st and coming back on the 1st if anyone needs transport or wants to convoy from PA, NY and all points North.

Alright, so the HoJo's our hotel of choice, I take it?

How many of us are wanting to share a room? You know I'm always in for a game of "let's fit as many people into a room as possible".

Alright, I just decided to do some hotel snooping of my own, and... you guys suck at getting good rates.

Hotwire's offering a 3 star hotel in Brampton for $61 USD a night (including all fees). From what I found on a website that tells you what hotels you get with Hotwire, it's one of these:

Courtyard Toronto Brampton

Holiday Inn Select Brampton

Both look pretty nice. And they both have indoor pools! (The one's the one Christine mentioned in the thread earlier with the 2 story waterslide!)

Apparently the Holiday Inn Select has a lot of rooms facing some kind of "atridome" thing that houses the pool, and it echos and there's a lot of sound... but I have a feeling we'd be the ones MAKING the sound, so I don't think we should worry.

Anyway... it seems R&S and Tom are the only ones who've already booked? Think you can cancel that and go with this one? (I guess someone should contact R&S and ask them the same question, too.) Regardless of which it actually is, it's way cheaper, and seems nicer.

Actually, here's the Hotwire link (though I'm not sure it'll work):

I think the HoJo was selected because of its proximity to the alleged venue location. The map Rich posted on the Facebook event page shows it just being a few blocks away from the Rose Theatre, where the concert is assumed to be taking place on the outside. It's all on the outside...all....

no chance it's taking place IN the Rose Theatre? They don't have anything scheduled that night.

I'm not staying at the HoJo:

Pretty consistently poor ratings. My standards for hotels have gone up at bit in the last few years so this place doesn't really sound like it's up my alley. I'm not sure if we'll do the hotel thing or just drive home. Depends on what ppls plans are.

So there's shuttles? Any idea where they go? Maybe the other hotels are on the route.

Also... how the heck do we get wristbands?

I agree with Nikki... someone should let R&S know! wink wink...

Ok Ok... I forgot to check the ratings on the hotel, I may have jumped slightly due to its government discount, and proximitey to the show. Hopefully my standards are not a 1 class hotel as well (twins are questionable... ;0) Someone could of warned us (cough cough Kathy cough cough) So if the group has done some research, and are thinking of elsewhere... let us know please. :)

We should also decide on a meeting place for dinner drinks beforehand (something casual, affordable, and able to take the pending loud volume of the olp fans) Streets and Trips shows plenty of choices. Anyone ever been to O'Malley's Irish Pub? Its at 8 Queen, right on the corner we need to be...

Cheers
Rich

I've only ever been to the places we went for the two shows I went to - those are the only two times I've ever been to Canada! I'm not at all familiar with Brampton.

So I plan on being a sheep this trip. Baa!

(I'm borrowing my parents' GPS this time so I don't get lost and repeat the fiasco of my first trip to TO)

I'm nearby (I think) Brampton so I may scope out the area tomorrow if I get the chance.

I'm sure the Courtyard will be very nice, I'm in one right now. Plenty of room. Holiday Inn should be a more average hotel room, a touch bland, or generic but doesn't look downtrodden like the pic of that HoJo does.

You get what you pay for I'm sure.

Hi Rich!

I say we do the Hotwire thing. Eek, does Hotwire work for Canadians? If not, maybe us yanks should reserve with it, find out which hotel it is, then the Canadians can go on Travelocity or Expedia or whichever's cheapest and grab the same hotel.

Sound good?

Oh, also, this should probably happen ASAP. We need to figure out how many rooms we need.

Head count! (And whether you want your own room or not.)

ONE!

And I'll share with the big group, as always. :)

okay, so the wristband policy for Brampton residents puts a bit of a kink in the planning process. I don't know any Brampton residents.

Craaaaaaaaap. I never even thought that would be a possibility.

Uhh. Ugh. :(

I'd wager to guess there might be scalers selling wristbands.

Maybe hit up craigslist and ask around.

I'll ask anyone at work tomorrow if their Brampton residents.

Fake IDs?

They had to start it on the 8th, I'm flying back that morning.
