i've been working at the same job for the past 4 years and i hate it. i've been thinking of quitting for the longest time, but i was always just too lazy. but now, one of my cool managers just quit and the other cool manager might quit too, leaving me with the asshole manager, so i might quit my job and attempt to find a new one.

I've kind of been approached about a new job by some people I used to work with. It's really perfect other than having to commute into London most days, but I get to work at home when I'm not needed in teh office or customer site. And I found out today that what with the pay rise and getting a car allowance too I'll earn 25% more than I do at the moment. And they pay for all my travel!

I just have to get my CV done and then have an interview and the job's mine. And 2 other people I work with are also going to work there too.

What will you be doing?

Jobs are just different in Europe. Can I move there and work with you?

Melissa's first in line for moving here to work with me :)

I'd be working for an IT company, but with the social services people in either one of the London boroughs or in Coventry. Basically they're moving from having all their records stored on paper copies in filing cabinets to having it all computerised and they've bought a software product to do that for them, but it's very parameterisable so they can tweak it meet their own needs. And i'd be talking to the users, trying to work out what they want it to do and then going away and working out what we have to do to the system to do that and then going back and helping them get used to using it. Apparently some of the social workers don't even know how to type - but we wouldn't be responsible for quite that level of training.

I'll be so glad to get out of banking and doing something public sector-y :D
