April, you went to Wazoo. It's such a kickass place. That was the place where I found Microphones and Mirah for cheap. Not to mention lots of good vinyl.

Snow Patrol - Final Straw
Burnthe8track - The Ocean
I don't know why I bought these. I felt compelled to try something new without hearing anything before hand. They'd better be good.

Wait. Why didn't you get the albums I recommended?

i checked two bby's for them, (and that's basically all we've got for music stores on long island) and no dice. so then on a whim i checked to see if amazon had miracle of 86, and they did, and then i remembered the reunion show and they had that too. and before i knew it i was on a crazy music shopping spree (yes, 2 cds = crazy music shopping spree for me), so i decided to wait at least a week before indulging in any of your recommendations, of which i think i'll start with the built to spill, since i've heard good things about them before and i was intrigued by your review of them.

Someone read my music ranting thread. Glee!
Anyways, Built To Spill would be a great band to start off with. If you like that, I've got dozens of other bands I can tell you about.

How is it?
I'm a little scared to give the new stuff a listen, but I cant deny TAYF was a great album. so i'm at least moderately interested.

New TBS is surprisingly good, especially the second half of the cd (I Am Fred Astaire, One Eighty By Summer, Slowdance on the Inside). It doesn't top TAYF, but it's good. The new vocalist is also a step down, but, again, he's still good.
So, what does Kimmy have against TBS?

well i was really into tayf, went to see tbs play at the knitting factory, and thought the show was kickass. the second time i went to see them, however, they performed terribly. the singer kept copping out on his vocals and the guitarist who is now in straylight run (yeah, i don't pay attention to names) had to keep picking them up. not long after that the band split, and i saw them perform post-split at warped tour last year, and was again incredibly disappointed in the quality of the performance. also, by that time the songs on tayf had begun to sound a bit campy to me, which also helped to send me running in aversion.
plus, they smell funny.
