it makes the whole thing sound ridiculous. as well Raine needs to step up the ante on his vocals and really stop sounding like he's falling asleep. it kills the song honestly.
Agree

Thanks again for recording FireGX!
I have to agree with the constructive criticism from the last two posts about The Wolf. The backup vocals are very out of place in this song. I know the rest of the members of the band want to participate more, but leave that to the writing and collaboration. Raine is the vocalist. Also, I found Raine to be a bit unenergetic in his vocal execution, Jeremy's constant unchanging drum pattern to be a bit boring, and the pace a bit too slow and the song too mellow for what it's aiming to be.
It also seems that Raine is slightly "delaying" or "pausing" his voice to be marginally out of sync with certain melodies on purpose, like a habit he's developed. That's fine during live performances and when you're singing along, but in the original recording the vocals should be completely in sync with the instrumentals. Right? Don't get me wrong, I really love this song, but I just feel that some of these things could be improved to maximize how awesome the song could be.
Love the strings portion they added though. And this is all constructive criticism... I wouldn't give a damn if I didn't love the band so much. From their back catalog, we know they are very capable and talented.

They're into their third time recording the song. I think they should move on to something else and revisit this later. I do love the beat to it. Thanks for recording, I've worked all week. Tonight will be the first chance I've had to watch live.

This song is taking too much time. It's a great song but they are really picking it apart and the tension and exhaustion is starting to show. We don't need them in HIPT recording mode. It's not good for them and it's not good for us. I agree. Move on and come back. They weren't precious enough last time.... now they're being too precious.
“Music doesn’t have the power to change the world. What music does is it changes people, & that changes the world, so to say that music doesn’t change people anymore is just ridiculous. It does everyday. It doesn’t have to be on a political or social level. You could be feeling shitty & it makes you happy & if that’s all it does, it’s changing the world. It’s making it a better place.” ~ Raine Maida

Also i think that on this album there is the risk that can be like HIPT in the recording atmosphere...come on OLP stay quiet we know that your music it's fucking amazing don't be too precious....i tell you in quality of drug of OLP! I listen all the songs also Healthy that is the least favorite for me....

I don't think 3 tries is that much, and comparing it to Healthy in Paranoid Times recording sessions based off of seeing into their world for an hour and 30 minutes is silly. At this stage in the recording process, I don't think they'll be switching gears and working on different songs too quickly, and it wouldn't surprise me if they only touch on 2 or 3 songs in a full day's work, or if they spent 2 or 3 days focused on a single song.
Maybe I'm just used to this because I'm familiar with Radiohead, who are pretty well known for spending days and weeks on a song, put it on a shelf and come back to it later, and repeat that until they're happy... which has taken 10 years in some cases. And then there's True Love Waits, which has been attempted literally hundreds of times over the past 15 years. 3 tries is nothing!
They'll move on to something else if they feel like they're going in circles. Clearly this is a song they have confidence in but they feel like it still needs more work.
