all I want to say is that this thread rules, because despite the fact that hardly anyone is posting in it, it has not died!

hmmm i'm going to try and list some bands that IME have things in common with, i wouldn't say that they sound like ANY band on this list, but rather a combination.

Radiohead/Red Hot Chillie Peppers/Santana/Led Zep/OLP/Tool/APC/Janes Addiction/Dave Navarro/

hmmmm dabbek can you come up with anymore? what's a band that is kinda like Brians new ultra melodic style?

ummmmmmmmm, maybe some of deftones' softer stuff, apc perhaps....I think for the last album at least tool is the closest one can come up with although they were still more funkified than tool. It's hard to say, perhaps everyone should go and buy all of their albums and give their opinions too. :)

yeah i would agree with that, there's definatly alot of RHCP and Funk rock in it to be classified as anything like deftones or tool alone, there's alot of 70's style guitar solos too

I am just in constant awe of the sounds that jag makes with his guitar, juicy for example, and that stuf he's doing in the secret track, how the fuck?

yeah, i don't think it's presumptious to say he's probably Canada's best rock guitarist in 12 years. Just listen to his work on Dig and Scenery, and he's 100X better live cause they have such kick ass jams. Can anyone say that Universe in you, and Earth, sky and C don't rock?

speaking of i was listening to a song called "I could of lied" by RCHP and i noticed the electric guitar work near the end sounds alot like Jag's style. john and Jag both have alot in common, of course jag also has alot in common with 70's players and alot in common with hendrix, paige, and sanatana, and now he even resembles tool

I love how most of Jag's solo's have an element of improvisation that kinda takes over and carries you through a new emotionally dynamic experience every time. If you check their live performances, a specific solo from each of their songs is never alike... there are certain parts that keep the basic stucture of the original solo as heard on their albums, but then there are parts where he just goes off on these imaginative tangents that sound so amazing and fit so perfectly into the music, that they could easily be a part of the original album solos.

oh, something else is it just me or is Bruce a very underated member in the band? Jag is so amazing everyone forgets about Bruce. Bruces bass style is SOOOO sweet, he kinda has to seperate styles, there's the one really gritty, lumberi, power and almost menacing songs (Love Your Starfish Rules!) but then he has a very latin/funky style, on lots of songs he's alot like Flea, but in his own original funky way. Another cool thing about IME is even when they're playing hard or serious, they add in a little element of crazy fun or funk just to lighten up once again "Love your starfish" is a good example

i love the bass in soft bomb salad (<---probably my favourite song from QMD), it's pretty simple but it's such a cool groove.

yeah, i'm don't think i'm being to biased in saying that IME is probably one of the strongest Musicianwise rock band in canada. Jag goes without saying, he's one of todays best players, Bruce is pretty damn solid and unique, i hate to say it but probably mor so then Duncan, who only plays melody bass. then there's Christian, who's technically not as good as Jer, but if you look at album work overall he kills jer. And then there's Brian............do i even need to explain? Brian is amazingly unique, he can go from gritty and angry, to sreaming, then go to some of the most soft and meloldic stuff i've ever heard. Every word is DRIPPING in emotion. He's to only man that can sing completly abstract cryptic lyrics and still make you want to cry
