I don't think so. There will always be people who feel safer belonging to something, be it a mob or otherwise. This is why we have government in the first place. This may come as a surprise to you but people WANT government. There's no way that EVERYONE will be comfortable with an anarchist society. They will begin to ban together and eventually form a government. Face it, there's no way that everyone would all of a sudden be well behaved anarchists, otherwise we'd be living in anarchy now.

I concur. Completely. If the people wanted anarchy, we would have it. If we felt oppressed, we would say so. No matter what, some people are going to feel oppressed - as I would feel in an anarchist state. Majority rule may not be fair, but it is the most fair of the alternatives. And the majority wants to be governed; otherwise we wouldn't be.

Argue about oppression all you want, but reality speaks for itself.

aerin - how could you feel opressed in an anarchist state when there would be no one opressing you? opression requirse force - there is no force in an anarchist state.

corey, you asked whose fault it was that i was born within a governement - it sure as hell isn't mine. don't try to pull the wool over my eyes and tell me that we are living in anarchy and it just so happens that all people want to be governed. because there are plenty of us who don't.

hmm i was thinking doug. How is oppression by the government any diffrent then by a violent gang in power during a anarchist state? Technically you could choose to ignore the government, but then they would come into you home and take you to jail. In the anarchist you could choose to ignore a gang, but then they would come to your home and A) Imprison You. B) Kill You. C) Rob You. And as for the i would fight them argument, you could fight the government in the same way if you so chose.....and both would end about the same. Except the government MIGHT take you alive where as the gang would probably kill you and use you as an example for others. Either way we will be oppressed by others, at least this way we have a choice in who's oppressing us,a nd a tiny amount of power in how we are oppressed. Unless of course everyone develops perfect morals of caring, fairness, sharing, and respect.......which would also alow a communist government to exist....

you yourelf admit that the state is not different from an armed gang. why then do you permit them to rule over you? furthermore, what makes you think that there is anything the state can do that a private corporation could not do better (ie protect me from criminals?).

i no alternative, and as i stated before at least this one we have a miniscule power over, as for never ever works, i already told you i live 30 mins away from a communist colony and it is one of the most productive and profitable operation in all of the praries, ask any farmer, they hate them because they can't compete
