Bah, no it's not. Cable tv sucks worse than normal tv.

The only thing I watch now is the US Open and then hockey every night once it starts up again. Damn off-season.

Yays, another tennis fan. You rock my world Arlie!
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Just thought of something.

Alan, did you watch, I think on Monday nite, the match between Marat Safin and his last name was Keifer? Safin's ranked 2nd in the world and this Keifer guy wasn't even ranked and he really gave Safin a run. Keifer was suffering from leg cramps the whole match and he'd keep on falling down. It was a really great match. There was a tie-break in the fifth set, and Safin ended up winning, but it was really close.

I'm rooting for Tommy Haas, or Andy Roddick though. :)

I watch every US Open match I can. See, Nicholas Kiefer isn't a bad player or anything, and the only reason he wasn't a low seed is because of injuries and a lack of a full schedule. I am rooting for Safin to win the entire thing, even though I would like to see Roddick win.

Tommy Haas won't win it all, because he's injured. He and Tim Henman have shoulder problems, so they can't last 7 matches in intense heat. Safin, even though I love the guy and am just like him when I play, won't win because he'll get down on himself during the tournament. Roddick is still pretty young and not so consistant, but he still might be able to win. I mean, serving the ball 140MPH on rubber courts can only help him win, especially if he goes to the net.

The safest bets to win the tournament are either Andre Agassi or Lleyton Hewitt. Agassi dominates from behind the baseline, and Hewitt is such a great pusher that he could walk away with the trophy again. Hewitt might wear out though, because it takes him something like 3 hours to complete a 3 set match. And Hewitt has a good chance to crash and burn against James Blake. And after seeing Rodger Federer manhandle Michael Chang tonight, he could win it all too, if he becomes consistant.

Those are my views on the tournament, and I will probably be right with one of my picks.

I betcha Lleyton Hewitt will win, but I don't want him to because he won last year. I would absolutely LOVE to see Andy Roddick or Tommy Haas win, but, like you said Roddick is too inconsistent and he tends to get down on himself when he slumps, and I wasn't aware that Haas was injured. Poop.

Haas has had shoulder problems for the longest time now. I would hate to see Hewitt win, because I don't want a tool bag like him to dominate the sport. I wouldn't mind seeing Henman come out of nowhere and win a major for once, but it's not gonna happen.

Watch Fernando Gonzales (I think that's his first name) in this tournament. He can make some noise, and if he made it to the quarterfinals, I wouldn't be shocked. He hits the ball harder that Safin or Roddick, and is a lotta fun to watch.

Ahhh Boris Becker. Nicholas Kiefer was once called "the next Boris Becker" then got plagued by injuries. A real shame too, that guy should have won a couple of majors by now.

For the clips they show in the commercial, the songs works perfectly. The movie still sucks though.

whoohoo...tennis. i'm such a tennis fan  and i'm spamming up the thread. during any major i'm hooked to the tv hardcore. i barely leave to eat, but i only watch the men's tennis. the ladies is too boring for me, and the williams sisters always win anyways. i'm a gustavo kuerten fan! I'm so glad he beat safin today because safin is such a brat and he wastes his talent. okay, done venting about tennis. we should start a u.s. open thread! okay..that's my contribution for today.

Ahhh! Tennis talk, yay! luckyJQ - I'm so glad he beat Safin too! I hope he wins another major other than the French Open! Although I want Andy Roddick to win too 8-) . Any of you play tennis? I'm currently in the middle of my school season, fun stuff. One of the people on the team is actually at the U.S. Open now, I'm so jealous! I also like James Blake, but I don't know if he can beat Lleyton Hewitt (I don't know what day they're playing because I don't have cable at the moment  so I can't watch it) so you all have to keep me updated!

I play tennis, hence my screen name is "tennisstud420" . You people are crazy. How can you not like Marat Safin? Without "brats" like Safin, watching men's tennis would be beyond boring. He brings color into the game, and without Safin, would people really be interested to watch tennis featuring a bunch of boring Pete Sampras's? I think not. Men's tennis needs more people like Marat Safin, Lleyton Hewitt, and Goran Ivanisevic, or else it will be dominated by silence, and really short points.

About Gustavo Kuerten, he will not win another major besides the French Open. If you look at his life, ages 1-20, he only played on clay. He will not win Wimbledon, because he'll never play it, The Austarlian Open because it's too hot and the surface is too hard, and the US Open because, again, the surface is too hard. Sure he's won lesser hardcourt tournaments before, but they're lesser tournaments. You don't have 132 people fighting to win a major, you just have 64 people out there just trying to gain ranking points for the majors. He will probably win the French Open next year, but don't count on Gustavo getting much further than the 4th round.

I play tennis as well, although we don't really have a team at my college, so i play intermural, which sucks. Yeah, okay, so I have a response to what OLPFan said but I'm gonna take it over to the US Open thread under the Chat topic, cause I don't want to spam this topic up anymore.
