ya i gotta say that simplified lyrics means wider adudience as well... Maybe thats why Happiness wasnt as big as it should have been... too complicated for the dim-witted masses...
i actually think if anything he changed their lyrics more than the actual music, the music seems to have bits and pieces from all 4 albums, and you can see relations between songs and songs on similar corresponding albums

Hey Corey? do you just enjoy playing devil's advocat? or are we just in the presence of a Mr Rock?

excuse me if I'm not a fellow Rock Hater. apparently that is the only way to get respect around here.

And what you said actually supports my point. You said the music hasn't changed much, just the lyrics. I believe 7 out of the 10 songs have Raine's name next to them. I didn't see Bob Rock as the writer of any one of them. The music will be the thing most affected by a producer.... but anyways, ignore this post because I'm just being a "devil's advocat"

Raine even said that Rock affected his lyrics, making things simpler,
Why on earth would they throw Rocks name on every song when he didnt write them? he merely simplified them to make the lyrics relate to everyone, cause you know we can't have people trying to come up with their personal interpretations about a song anymore, that would just confuse too many people.

Ideas for lyrics are Raine's
Way of writing them are Rock's

and man i was just joking about the devils advocat stuff, etc, your opinions are valid and i was just trying to throw in a bit of humour. If i offended you then sorry

hah! I finally found the quote that I keep talking about over and over again when people say that Bob Rock is evil:

(from OLP on Much on Demand)

Rick: Indirectly, Bob Rock made a lot of Our Lady Peace fans happy, very happy.

Raine: Thank you.

Rick: Because you weren't planning on making another album?

Raine: No, we were planning on just working a couple of songs and seeing how it went. We were actually planning on some time off.

So there. :P

I'm not a Bob Rock hater either .. if anyone is to blame for Gravity 'sucking' it's Our Lady Peace themselves, not Bob ..

and I actually like Gravity, well most of it

No. They would have taken a break. They would have all gone on to their own things and probably not gotten back together, as they didn't have the same bond they had with eachother on the first 4 albums anymore.

people really need to stop assuming stuff.dude this is EXACTLY what jeremy was talking bout when we met him. No one knows what would or wouldn't have happened and should just stop acting like they know what would have happened cause no one knows except the band

no. gravity is the reason we didn't get a live album.

they were going stick a few bob rock studio tracks at the end of the live album, but instead recorded a full album of bob rock studio tracks.

but you know, it's true what everyone says. bob rock is a great producer. look what he's done for the band. they're more popular than ever in the states, somwhere out there was a hit. the man's job is to produce music that will make them successful. that's what he did. unfortunately, it required a compromise...

It may have made them successful. But I'd say he is a great "pop" producer more than a great music produce. He might have potential though.

Pop? His list of bands falls more under heavy metal than pop, in my opinion.

i was just bout to say that. Anyway, I don't consider Metallica alternative at all. They are pure rock. None of their songs are even close to turning poppy . :D
