Allrighty, so I've had the Pod for a few days now and I've gotta say...I'm impressed. The 5G iPods are very well crafted, the only flaw I can see is the fact that it is apparently really easy to scratch (which is why I haven't taken off the protective plastic sheet yet), I'm waiting for my local Apple store to get the Agent 18 cases in stock. The music sounds great, and the quality of the video is amazingly crisp. It was not a hassle at all to convert and transfer videos on my iPod so I don't understand why so many people are having issues with it. The product is worth the hefty price tag if you're on the road a lot.

How the hell do you convert videos with Videora?
+
You can only convert 5 minute videos with the free trial of Xilisoft?
Vidoera works just fine, when you open the program click on "convert" then click on "one click transcode" pick the video you want to convert and have the time of your life!!
Okay I'm finally going to try this in order to get the rest of my videos on my iPod. *fingers crossed*

So yesterday I'm at school listening to my iPod and everything's cool. Listening to some Laura Veirs, some Death Cab, some Kaki King. Darn! Time for class...I turn it off. After class I turn it back on...but wait...it doesn't come on

I check the hold button and that's not on hold, so I press the select button again...nothing! I try pressing each of the buttons and even using the scroll wheel (as though that would help, but heck, they were playing Oprah in the lounge, so anything that could get my iPod to work I was going to try even if it was unlikely). What college kids watch Oprah anyway

Anyway, back to the point, I can't get my iPod to come on so I give up and, thus, leave the Oprah-infested lounge. I thought maybe it just needed to be recharged, but I thought it was pretty close to being full, so that didn't make sense. Could the battery already be shot?! I just got the thing in May...the end of May at that! I get home and plug it in to the computer. Not only does the screen still not come on, my computer doesn't even recognise that I plugged it in

I figure that the place I got it wouldn't take it back after 9 months, but it was worth a shot, so I located everything that came with the iPod...the box, the USB cord, the instructions, the CD, all that. Figures that I had it all in different places so it took a while to find it all. I was really hoping they would take it back because I wasn't about to pay $100 to replace the battery every 9 months! Every 5 years (which I've heard is the average battery life) I can live with but 100 bucks every 9 months is way out of my lifestyle. Anyway, I figure that I'll check the troubleshooting section of the instructions just in case. It said something about resetting the iPod, and I figured, well, what harm could it do at this point. I plugged the iPod into the wall and moved the hold button from on to off, on to off, then held in the select and menue buttons for 6 seconds as I was instructed. SUCCESS! The apple logo came up. Now I figured that all my songs would be gone, but I have them all either on official CDs (the vast majority) or (a few rare tracks) as mp3s on my computer and on CD-Rs, so having my songs erased wasn't the end of the world. But when I went into the "artist" section, guess what? ALL MY SONGS WERE STILL THERE! SWEET
Long story short...oh, too late for that...nevermind

Good to know!!
And wow - I'm surprised that your songs were still there after re-setting!

I heard about the same thing happening to someone recently, but I can't remember where or who. They hadn't gotten to the "figuring out how to fix it" part yet, though.
Guess it's a pretty common problem. Will keep that in mind.
