lawrence (dont ask why) had it in his list.

It's actually unbelievable. But not enough kudos. He should be coming out with a new one in 2006; he was previewing new songs at small bars in NY.

I can't wait. He really got his act together after Hallucinations, lol. It's a shame he doesn't get more radioplay.

I've been wanting to do one of these...
and, in no particular order, I'm taking care of that want...probably later than is healthy:

Spoon: Gimme Fiction
Blue Merle: Burning in the Sun
Our Lady Peace: Happy in Paranoid Times
Marc Broussard: Carencro
Abandoned Pools' new one
Life of Agony: Broken Valley
Garbage: Bleed Like Me
Brandi Carlile
Sigur Ros: Takk
Supergrass: Road to Rouen

Most disappointing new releases, in my book, go to Thrice for Vheissu and, even though I've only heard it a few times and never bothered to buy the cd, Nine Inch Nails for With Teeth.

Three things....

1 - Blue Merle... Yeah, that's a good CD. I never really thought about it as far as my favorites of the year, but if I was to post a top 20 (or maybe even 15) that would probably make it.

2 - You should get the new NIN. It's an awesome CD and if you've only heard it once or twice, it will probably grow on you - it did with me. It's definately better than The Fragile.

3 - "Happy In Paranoid Times"....a rare "companion" disc?

Brutus is an honorable man
It's just coincidence that oil men will wage war in an oil rich land
And this one goes out to my man taking cover in the trenches with a gun in his hand
Then gets home and no one flinches when he can't feed his fam...

But Brutus is an honorable man...

1. I probably only bought about 10 or 11 cds this year, and I think my affection for Blue Merle comes mostly from seeing them live something like 5 or 6 times this summer. They put on a great live show, and some of that, for me, carried over to their recording.

2. I particularly loved The Fragile. I can't say I didn't like what I heard from With Teeth, but it didn't really make me want to go out and buy it. That, and the fact that I've heard the new singles over and over to the point that I am extremely sick of them. I may burn it, if it's still on my parents' computer...and buy it if I like it enough.

3. As I said to the last person who pointed out my mistake, yesterday, "I'm a very confused person." I did it on my cd list, too in another thread, and it was just one of those major spaced-out moments.

hope of the states - the lost riots
trail of dead - worlds apart
rise against - siren songs for the counter culture
broken social scene - self titled
Whenever death may surprise us,
let it be welcome
if our battle cry has reached even one receptive ear
and another hand reaches out to take up our arms.

Nobody's gonna miss me, no tears will fall, no ones gonna weap, when i hit that road.
my boots are broken my brain is sore, fer keepin' up with thier little world, i got a heavy load.
gonna leave 'em all just like before, i'm big city bound, your always 17 in your hometown
