My school is doing a play all about Sex. They're trying to keep it away from the cliche plays about teen sex. It's playbuilding, so the direction isn't for sure. I'm stage manager for this, btw, so I'm there every rehearsal. Basically, they're trying to explore the anxiety and feeling behind sexuality. It's rather interesting, and has stemmed some very interesting discussion.

I AM ME wrote:I also would like to point out that "saving yourself" is a lot easier for girls, then guys, and not just because of the horomone diffrence. Me and a friend of mine were talking about this last week. She had never experienced an orgasm untill she had sex for the first time with her boyfriend. Up untill then she didn't realy have that much trouble resisting urges or saving herself. After she figured out what she was missing out on, it became a lot harder to go without.

Ummm, yeah... no. :P

First off, most girls can't climax during sex. Look it up.

Secondly, as much as guys think they're the only ones who masturbate, they're certainly not. Not to mention the whole "fooling around" thing that typically comes before actual sex in a relationship.

laurel wrote:i was going to do the saving myself until marriage thing. my reason was not religious at all. i place a very high value to sex (or, as i re-read this, virginity)...to me, it's something that's meant to be done in a secure relationship, and done out of love. i need to feel very secure and loved with a person to give them so much. i wanted to wait until marriage to have sex for the first time because of the significance i placed on giving my virginity to someone.

that said, i fell in love. after being in the relationship almost two years, i finally decided to have sex with him, and we were both virgins. i don't regret it at all....it was in an extremely loving and secure relationship, and i honestly thought i would marry him at that point. now that we're broken up, i don't regret it at all.
now, i'm not going to go around sleeping with people now. i still want to be in a loving relationship when i finally do have sex with that person. but...i'm very very glad that i didn't end up waiting for marriage. i would have been missing out on a lot.

Wow, just switch "two years" with "seven months" and I'd swear that I was the one who wrote that post. Thank you for putting that into words so perfectly. :duncan:

Girls have just as many hormones as guys do. Believe me. However, it isn't as socially acceptable for girls to act the way guys do concerning sex. Guys are celebrated for being horny and wanting to "Nail some chicks" But if a Girl said the same about having sex with a guy, she'd be a slut.

exactly .. guys get a slap on the back from their buddies for being whores and they think it's funny to joke about. girls are labeled as 'dirty' and become known as sluts. then again girls are called sluts for everything.

i was called a slut in highschool because this girl was bitter over the fact that her boyfriend broke up with her and was dating me. doesn't matter that i was with the guy for 3 freaking years and he was the only guy i dated in highschool :freak: oh how i hated highschool.

i haven't experienced the slut label since high school, luckily

i've always been open about my masturbatory and sexual activity, so it's no secret among me and my guy friends... it used to anger me in high school when girls (myself included) would be accused of being a slut for wanting to try a vibrator or something. i mean, wtf?

i have been called a slut, sure, but i don't tolerate it. sex is a really fun and enjoyable way to get to know yourself and i don't consider it a "special" thing at all. it's just an act the way jerking off is just an act.

that said, i respect those who do value it, but it's not the way i look at it.

so, yeah, where was i going with this? women like sex and orgasms a whole lot and i don't get why guys would think otherwise

See, I think that's crap. The whole 'double standard' thing is bull in my opinion.

People say things like 'Guys can go around and sleep with all these girls and he's admired for it and if a girl would do that she's be a whore'

Well guess what? If a guy slept around with all kinds of people all the time I'd call him a whore too. I'd think the exact same things about him as I would if a girl did the same thing. And guys can go and talk to all their friends about it and get admired, but then girls do the exact same thing. I mean, did Sex and the City make an entire television series about that?
The only double standard I see is when people talk down about others for having a sex life and then go and do the exact same thing. Its like those teenage girls from high school that would call someone a slut of whore or something. But she would end up being the one that slept with the entire hockey team.

Yeah, I just felt the need to rant about that.

i don't think there's any excuse for "slut" at all

sex rules, why would someone ever try to punish you for enjoying it? eh, they might be jealous

you have the right to sleep around as much as you want, guy or girl, without being called a slut, whore, etc, so long as you're not spreading disease

but women (especially during high school 'cause no one knows what they're doing then) usually get the short hand of the stick, i think

i noticed the slut label pretty much disappeared once i got out of high school and was considered an adult or whatever. people just don't care then.

i;m g lad you got the other meaing i was throwing there. I base that opinion on the conversation i had with one of my female friends. She denied masturbation for years and we would always bug her, and tell her it was ok for her to tell us. Turns out she never did masturbate, but now she's with a guy, and sexually active. She says that now that she's had sex if she wasn't getting it as often as she does she would consider masturbation. I'm just saying once you know, you crave it more.

Oh and she has climaxed before, they dated for quite awhile and were deeply in love before they decided to have sex, so maybe that has something to do with it.

My friends and i are very open about sex, we just keep it in a humorus context most of the time which makes it a lot easier to talk about. It's a pretty common topic actually when we're all drunk, just because we all can get a good laugh, and share common stories. Maybe we're just really liberal pervs, or swinger couples in trainging.

Except for the first time I think i've always climaxed.
But I did read somewhere that 60% of women don't. And something like 45% of women have never had an orgasm.

That's horrible.
