Dallas - Gas Monkey Live

After researching all the possible options for shows on this tour I could attend, it seems this one will be the best chance. Anyone else going to this show? I'll be flying in the day of the show. Never been to Dallas...

I don't know that we have anybody in Texas on here...or if we ever did.

Yeah, I don't recall anyone either. Somehow, the closest show I could get to is halfway across the country. Here's to airline mile rewards!

Opening act was a weird mix of Sublime, Deftones, and cage the elephant. On to the main act!!

The show was amazing. I've seen OLP over 20 times now, and I'd say this is definitely a top five show, partly because of the length of the set, partly because of the band's enthusiasm, and partly because of the technical sound/execution. I was in front of Duncan, and he was very excited that I was singing along with the new Somethingness songs they played. They played Story of 100 Aisles also, which I didn't see on any of the previous set lists. Though, no Carnival or Car Crash. That was my only small disappointment.

The crowd was pretty solid. No obnoxious people around me, and a lot of people knew a wide range of lyrics. I don't live anywhere near Dallas, so I didn't know what to expect. Raine even said on stage "When it's been seven years since you've visited a city, you're worried only 10 people will show up, but you guys are amazing". Here's the set list, I'm 99% sure this is correct:

Superman's Dead
Automatic Flowers
Big Dumb Rocket
Story of 100 Aisles!!!
Innocent
Is Anybody Home
One Man Army
Theif
Paper Moon / Life (very cool transition into the first verse/chorus of Life)
Congratulations (cover of Post Malone I think?)
Somewhere Out There
Drop Me In The Water
Nice To Meet You (very good to hear live)
In Repair (with a really cool breakdown at the end)

Encore:
Clumsy
4am
Naveed
Not Enough
Starseed

Yep, that's right! Edited. And it was a great version of Not Enough too.

New member here, big fan for a few years now. This show was my first time seeing them. I couldn't help but feel somewhat disappointed by the lack of frantic energy that they seemed to display back in their prime years....and Raine's voice no longer has any of that nasally quality that drew me to their sound in the first place. He sings like a baritone now, to varying degrees of success, often not finishing phrases or leaving out vocal parts altogether. And he either can't sing One Man Army anymore or he simply doesn't make an effort to. Not to mention the glaring hole left by Turner and Taggarts absence. And with the tepid, middle aged crowd surrounding me I couldn't help but feel like I was seeing the sad remains of a once great band, now turned into an adult contemporay shell of its former self. HOWEVER, a lot of the newer stuff worked well. Drop Me in the Water and Nice To Meet You both sounded great and fits Raines modern vocal style, and I greatly appreciated the varied and long set list. I shouldn't complain too much because after all, these men are in their forties and have been pumping out albums and touring for over two decades, so some of that youthful spirit is bound to diminish over time.
