Sweet, I'll have to convince Kym that they're worth a 2nd chance and hope Raine's singing doesn't let her down again!

What. Is there any way to return tickets? I paid, like, $80 for mine.

no., It was a live nation deal. They have deals every Wednesday- 2 for 1, $10-$30 or no service fee. Just so happens this show came up 2 for 1..

That is how I got my Franz Ferdinand ticket for $10.00

Quick review before I sleep --

The show was good. Not bad, not great. Raine's singing was good. Not bad, not great. Pretty great for Raine though.

It was much much much much x123081283 better than the show earlier this year at the Troubadour. The band seemed much more rested and there was a little bit more solo time for Steve. But, it was not as good as the shows I saw in 2002 or especially 2006.

The front-of-board area at House of Blues has some strong low-end acoustics that Duncan's bass kept setting off. It gave my lungs a nice massage, and I had to turn the low-cut filter on my recording gear which I usually don't use. It was a bit much even through my earplugs. Maybe I'm just getting old -- hopefully it wasn't as bad in other parts of the venue!

Bring Back the Sun was beautifully done and took me right back to 2002. The girl directly in front of me, who must be their biggest. fan. ever. decided that was the most appropriate song in their set for jumping up & down throughout.

I met another taper. Raine forgot the lyrics. They played Starseed at the end and Duncan gave us thumbs up. And the opening band told us we're not too cool to clap.

Oh yeah here's what they played:

Monkey Brains
Superman's Dead
Angels/Losing/Sleep
Innocent
Clumsy
Paper Moon
Escape Artist
Is Anybody Home?
Somewhere Out There
Bring Back the Sun
One Man Army
Automatic Flowers
All You Did Was Save My Life

(encore)
4am
Naveed/Kids
Starseed

I liked this a lot. More falsetto than I expected. Nice to hear.

And Automatic Flowers was good, even if Raine decided that the second verse goes, "[awkward silence], but Sara can't see straight... her garden blooms but Sara can't see straight, she's drinking..." etc. Teehee.

I didn't see Josh. But this seemed like a good crowd to be playing old songs too. Everyone around me, at least, was singing along to Automatic Flowers.

I hope Automatic Flowers is still around when I try to see them next. I was kind of disappointed that they had stopped playing Denied a few nights before I saw them in August.
