Though I'm right handed, I have always played baseball and hockey left-handed. I think that with these things it's more what your comfortable with. Don't get married to a label of "left handed" - try them both before you choose.

I'm the same way..

DO NOT BUY A SEARS GUITAR, and if you're just starting out don't get a Fender either, because the low end beginner Fender's are just Squires.
I would listen to some of the others here and just get a Gibson, they sound great and only cost a little bit more. It's better to get a guitar that costs a little more that you'll actually play than a cheap guitar that you'll never play.
Also, i would reccomend starting off with an electric guitar, rather than an acoustic cuz they're easier to learn on.
If you do your homework you should be able to get a good deal, check in here before you actually buy one so you don't get gyped.

Why is it easier to learn on an electric? Wouldn't acoustic be where to start because you can hear it more clearly...

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever

An electric gets plugged into an amp so you can hear it.

And I explained why an acoustic is harder to learn on.

The strings are farther away from the neck, so it takes stronger fingers to hold them down (and, when just starting out, that can be difficult. I started fairly young, and the acoustic was too hard for me).

Also, I'm not sure who said it, but your acoustic should have steel strings. I have no idea why you're using nylon strings (judging by the music you listen to - olp, etc - you'd want to be playing a steel string acoustic).

I see. I have a steel stringed acoustic, I was wondering why it was harder to reach the strings on it. There is a difference between mine and my friends electric. When I went to get one though everyone said acoustic was best to learn on.
