How WERE you able to meet them?

Post by InRepair79 »

I mention my desire to meet one of the band members here, as the last new post: http://www.clumsymonkey.net/phpBB2/view ... 5&start=20

My question, on this same subject, is for those of you that have been able to speak with a band member (I've seen quite a few posts with people nonchalantly mentioning how "The last time Raine and I talked, etc."): how did it happen, and are they receptive to fans in that way? In other words, are they still pretty down-to-earth guys, pretty approachable?

Thanks.

Yes, they most definitely are. Very nice guys.

And, you're in Texas, so it shouldn't be hard at all for you to meet them. Just go to concerts really early, and you'll probably see at least one of them wandering around or whatever. And/or at the end of the concert, go wait by the bus... but after the shows, they're in more of a hurry, usually. So, yeah. Good luck. :)

I met them after a show in 2000. We had to wait for an hour, because they went in the hot tub (the show was at the town rec centre) but by the time they came out, we were the only ones there. All of them except Raine came out and talked for quite a while. It was great :)

Yea, it varies. The safest bet is by the bus after the show, but they may be tired and in a hurry. I've also met them before shows. It really depends on the venue... at Villanova, Steve and Jer were eating in the cafeteria. At Trump Marina, they were walking around the casino. I'd say it depends mostly on the venue, with your best chances at small, non-specifically-concert venues.

First time I met them was by waiting after the concert, then they came into the hall and signed stuff, but that was at a ooncert in a small club with only about 100-200 people.
Second time was because we followed a group of people who went backstage. They turned out to be from Sony, but we just stayed there and nobody said anything about it or kicked us out so I had the chance to talk to Steve for a while.
Third time I won a meet and greet at a radio station, so me, Lydia and two others got about fifteen minutes to talk, have things signed, etc.

So basically all you have to do is come to Europe when (if) they play here again and you'll have a very big chance of meeting them. And they are very approachable and very friendly.

thats pretty cool.
see, the way our stadium is built, you can't really get access to the bus or backstage entrance. Its hard to describe but the backstage entrance is like a small parking lot and no one is allowed down there. They are likely to get run over anyways. But whenever something comes here people will crowd the parimeter of the parking lot and so there are a tonne of people...so who ever it was will just drive off and not have to talk to the 1000 people that waited outside.

stupid mile one....:cuss:

It's true, so my friend who had a liver transplant told the security lady, and she got us in. It was super.

My friend knows that person.. she told me about it and I got super jealous  Also, my sister's best friend (at the time 'cause this was like five years ago) won a contest to meet the band and took my sister, but when they got there the security guards were like "what are you talking about" and wouldn't let them. It was tragic :(

I've never had a conversation with any of them because I'm too chicken shit and I hang back but I've had lots of opportunities to meet them. The key for me has been hanging around by their bus .. I have Raine's autograph from the show in Sarnia, he was the only one that came out but he was in a hurry so he was just signing things quickly. Then before the show in London they all came out EXCEPT Raine, even Chantal was out signing stuff and all she did was drive Raine  But yeah, everyone was chatting it up with Steve especially but I was by myself so I was too nervous to ask for a picture or anything .. meh, it's easy to meet them but I never actually go up to them :(

I would probably be too shy to talk to them if I met them.

A lot of people say that they'd be too shy. But they're really easy to talk to once you get over the initial nerves. And you're really missing a great opportunity if you don't force yourself :)

My two cents: It's almost impossible to meet them at any arena. Tight security and the bus is blocked off. Pretty much you have to have a soundcheck party to meet them. There are a few exceptions though.

Mostly you have to go to a club show and hang out at the bus. And be patient :)

Basically what everyone else has said!
