Dreamcatcher
Dreamcatcher
I just finished reading this book (Dreamcatcher by Stephen King). It was absolutely amazing. I haven't seen the movie yet, but from talking to a friend about it, it's pretty close to the book.
Has anyone else read this/seen the movie?

I read the book awhile ago and it was really good .. I haven't seen the movie yet but I've heard the same thing .. it's close to the book .. I hate seeing movies after I've read the book cuz a lot of times they destroy it in the movie ..
Like Queen of the Damned .. absolutely amazing book .. the movie was the cheesiest and so far from the book it was pathetic .. worst movie ever.

Right now I'm reading Stephing King's "Misery". It's cool. Not far out like his other books. It's extremely realistic, but no less freaky. This author Paul Shelding woke up from a coma in some woman's house, with both his legs shattered. She claims to be his number one fan, and won't let him leave. She found him on the side of the road after his car crashed, and brought him home. After figuring out that he wrote the books she's obsessed with, she decided to not tell anybody about him. Now he's trapped in a house with a psychotic woman who is becoming more and more disturbing.
Very cool book. I can't wait to see how he gets out of it (if he does). It's also a fairly short book, but it's still good.

Woo! Bought Dreamcatcher the other day, and finally watched it.
I love the movie. Lots of stuff cut out (way too much, as is always the case), but it's still an excellent representation of the book. Except for one major thing. The completely fucked up ending. Duddits wasn't supposed to turn into one of the aliens. He wasn't even one of those aliens! He was a different (and much more pure) being all together!
Actually, they cut out a lot of stuff near the end. There was a lot more to chasing Jonsey/Mr Gray. And there was this whole really awesome mind-world thing, where Jonesy finds himself in the hospital [same room he was in after being hit by the car] with Mr Gray. Duddits then comes and saves him in the hospital [at the end, he actually stays in the jeep (which should have been a hummer) and doesn't get involved with the final battle in the physical world].
In conclusion, the book was a million times better, but the movie is extremely good and has found a nice space in my collection between Donnie Darko and Dumb & Dumber. And there it shall stay.
