What needs to stop: (IMHO)
-The name changing. It was a bad idea in the first place, and it got worse and basically there are triple the amount of people that used to be here, because the nickname is the only way of telling people apart. Since many people have changed their name multiple times, its confusing and I dont recognize good people I used to see posting. If I knew who you were and respected you, your post would mean alot more to me, and I would take it seriously. Now, your all the same. Post count or not. I don't know who you are.
-The really pointless threads. Some of them are pain on my eyes. A good example is the one about How someone pointed out that they were going to try Matthew good's music out. Jesus H Christ, what if everyone started making threads about things they were going to do? Why did this person need to point this out? A reccomendation? A second opinion? Are you independant or not? Pointless. If hes as good as everyone says, take a chance and download a song. (willing to debate this if I got something wrong)
Another good example is those "magical" threads that state, "WhAtS yOuR fAvoRitE oLp SoNg!!?!?!" What the fuck should you care? I get the feeling the thread was started as an excuse to tell everyone YOUR favorite OLP song. THANKS.
-The signatures. The max character limit is ridiculous. Large Pictures are ubsurd. Posting someone elses lyrics in your sig is pointless. It really annoyes me when I see those huge sigs. And, when I ask for them to be shortened I get some 8 year olds response of, how its their right to use the max character limit, and theres nothing I can do about it.
SO, I e-mail AL about this, he says he will fix it. Great. Then, I find that the max sig limit has been changed from 200, to 5000. Maybe Al did it, maybe he didnt. I dont know.
If you have a sig like call me andrews or Clumsy7thief or hey, even Axtech's isn't too bad. But if you have a sig like bort8 or xonodoubt69 or OLPMazurite you piss off every person who is unable to access high speed internet, because it sloooooows uuuuuuus dooooown. THANKS FOR UNDERSTANDING. :Johnathan:
Oh, about the lyrics thing, nobody in their right mind wants to see 15 paragraphs of your favorite song that means alot too you, because it means absolutely DICK to us, yes I am talking to you Bort. Nobody cares. NOBODY. Make a "pointless thread" (featured above) and post your meaningful lyrics. And then, stop. Show you have a brain/courtesy. Please.
-Joke threads Yeah, they can be funny and are a good escape, but like a good joke, it seriously loses its prowess after several times. Ask yourself before making a thread or posting, "Is it really a good idea? Will I annoy Teelow?"
-The clubs Um, this doesnt annoy me, I'm just curious as to what its all about. (Notice how I'm not in a club?)

Thanks for pointing out i'm stupid to be saying all this stuff. Thanks, for pointing out this is a long post, and thanks for putting one of these delightful characters, " :wtf: or  " They really aren't necessary. Thanks for pointing out, that this is a public thread and people can do what they want. But if your thinking that, you are the cause of smart people making threads about how this Board is going down hill. Critisizing sucks, but its meant to improve.
AND PLEASE, do post your concerns with what I have to say. Lets discuss this, Seriously!

AL, c'mon buddy. You make this site look GREAT. IT works GREAT. OLP fans are in heaven. Not to mention the fantastic opening pages that I am in awe of. But Al, get off your butt and do some freakin' moderating. Or hell, make me one and i'll do the tough stuff. :)

whats wrong with soliciting advice on what to download when it comes to a band/artist?

if the first song i had ever heard by OLP was consequence of laughing i wouldnt be a fan
or how about the RK blurbs..
a friend of mine decided to d/l some SM before it came out.. it so happened the first things he managed to get from the cd were the RK blurbs.. its not entirely coincidental seeing as tho he was on dialup and theyre the shortest but if he just judged it on that he wouldnt have ever listened to or bought the cd, therefore, people ask others for advice when a band or artist is talked about.. whats good.. whats bad.. etc..
its normal and theres nothing wrong with that if you ask me
go fuck yourself.

Al did lower the sig limit (I'd assume it was him, anyway, since you asked him to). Then, one day, I tried to change my avatar, and was told my sig was too long, and was stuck with a nice red x as my avatar for a few days. My sig isn't very long (at least in my opinion), I simply have three small graphics in it, but there are links on those graphics, which cause my sig to be longer, html-wise. So, I upped the sig length again, after asking Rob about it... I had no idea what the sig length was before, and had assumed that someone just accidentally taken a zero away from the number (since Rob had no idea what had happened to the sig length and not a single moderator answered me when I asked about it in the mods thread), so I added one back.

And, about "pointless threads" and "joke threads"... nobody makes you read them. Just skip them if you think that they're pointless.

I agree with you on the name changing, though. I get really confused when people do that, and it takes me a while to figure out who's who.

And, the clubs are just little clubs you can join to show your pride for whatever group you wanna show pride for. You can join as many or as few as you want. Joining doesn't really do anything, just lists the club by your name, under "Clubs:". It's fun. Though, judging by your opinions on everything else, you'd think it was pointless and annoying. *shrugs*

I agree the clubs are pointless .. i mean it's just a name that shows up in your profile thingy .. they aren't used for anything .. but at the same time they aren't really causing a problem cuz they don't do anything!

I also agree the signatures are annoying .. since I have dial up and it takes me like 10 minutes to load a page here.

The username changes don't bother me .. if you post here enough you get to know everyone based on their signatures and avatars anyway .. I've only had 2 names .. my original name and my REAL name so I think I'm gonna keep that one.

yeah, the name thing really pisses me off. but then again, i mean, it's a cool idea, someone who signs up as RaInEs_LuVeR might regret that later on if they decide to stay here, ya know? I think it should be mandatory for everyone to put their first name or their best known name in their sig, that'd be cool.

as for sigs, instead of characters it should be like, lines or something. such as, you can only have 4 lines of anything or 3 or whatever, i really can't stand pictures in people sigs, it's just annoying.

pisture are pointless, and that's why you have an avatar. There's no need for anything else.

I think he was refering to people who put pics in their sig. A lot of people have dial up so it slows down the CM for them when there are too many pics

Just now, in this post, your sig doubled the size of your post. If your sig accounts for half of your post, even after you've quoted someone, then I'd say it's a bit large, yes.

I agree w/ you on about half the things. I think we should be allowed to change our names, I don't look at people's names anyhow. I look at their sig or their avatar. As long as they don't change three times a day, I don't care. My name is in my sig, so if you can't figure out who I am, you are stupid. I will gladly shrink down my graphic if that would make everyone happy though.

I don't agree about the threads. If you don't wanna look, don't. It's fine. There's not a whole lot going on w/ OLP these days....not enough to fill up all these forums w/ related info. So why can't people post whatever is on their mind?

I don't have any problem with anything mentioned. I think the CM is quite a cozy little irreverent/intelligible place.
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.
