I go to a restaurant for dinner. The guy beside me is chain smoking. Should I have to be submitted to this? No. Should I have to leave the restaurant? No. It's his smoke that is the problem. The bylaw is to protect people like me from having to breathe in the smoke of others.
What are his choices? Wait until after his meal, then step outside for a smoke. Maybe light one up on the way to his car after dinner. No big deal.

I was saying that being in a smoke filled room once wouldn't be enough to kill you....
And get this people, no matter how hard you try, there's always going to be people doing things that you don't like. You just can't go and ban everything that you don't like. I don't like people drinking, but we all know how well prohibition worked. I am sure someone here doesn't like people spitting, but you can't ban that. When it comes down to it, you can't hide behind the law for things like this. People are going to do what they want. Getting a meager fine isn't going to be enough to stop people smoking in public places.

But if these employees can't handle cigarette smoke, then why are they working in places like a bar in the first place? Like it was previously said, it should be up to the buildings to decide if they want smoking or not. The government shouldn't step in and say all buildings must be smoke free. That's going too far. If a place doesn't want people to smoke, then they can make it to where no one smokes. Not that hard.

Sometimes people have no choice but to work in these conditions. They need a source of income. Should their job result in them losing a a couple years of their life?
