whoever said they never heard avril say she does punk music: i have the magazine. i have the one where she SAID she owuld describe her music as punk and then the one where she says she never said she was punk. at which point, the reporter from YM said "but you said back in..." and then quoted. I also have her album, and i said before that its by no means a BAD album. not the greatest, but not bad. My point: she is a pre-packaged pop act disguised as "pnk/rock" whatever the hell she calls herself thsi week. tell me something: take the guitar off her neck and the guys from behind her and how rock/punk is she then. she's nothing but packaged garbage. the music isn't bad because she didn't write it. anybody can sing and look cute on stage. she claims she doesn't have to bare her belly(like britney) to sell records, yet she ocntinuously does.

I can actually see it now, the reason why OLP is not getting the popularity and fame-allow me to call it - is not because they don't get enough exposure. But their music really doesn't appeal to a lot of people. That's why they're taking it the easy way now, writing music that's more appealing to the mass and no longer targeting the people who have a more refined taste in music. Let's face it, OLP isn't that talented, Happiness and Spiritual Machines were two ambitious albums where the target was not the mainsteam while still gaining popularity, and they failed. Now that after 10 years they realized (they as in OLP excluding Mike) they can't take the Radiohead, Tool route (everyone wants to be Radiohead, popular around the world yet still un-compromising). If they want to sell out, they have to abandone their signiture sound and change. All I'm saying is OLP falls in the middle in mainstream and alternative, now that they know the band can't take the alternative route, they have to degrade their music into a more mainstream calibre. Touring with Avril, releasing Gravity, having their songs featured on Planet Pop or whatever, these are exactly what the band is looking for, so stop blaming Sony and Bob Rock.

Maybe I am wrong on this, but if they absolutely refused to open for Avril, nobody could make them. maybe I am wrong. I hope I am. Butit seems like we're always blaming SONY for something, when, in the past, they have been doing as they please with the same record contract that they are now opening for Avirl with. Ya know, it's just a 10 or 12 date tour across Europe, so it's not a big deal. All we should care about is the music they write, not the fans they make in Brussels and London, right? I mean, they don't affect us. I am all for them going on tour with Avril. I am not saying I like her, because I surely don't, but doesn't anyone think it's time that OLP gets recognized? Some of us here are lucky and liked OLP since the beginning, and that's great, but everyone deserves to listen to OLP. They're an amazing band, and just because OLP hasn't been everyone's favorite band since the beginning doesn't mean people shouldn't have the right to listen to them. I am sure there are going to be guys there who are totally whipped by their girlfriends, hear OLP, and go home with their cds and are new fans. So if OLP wants their music to be heard, and they have to go on tour with some one we don't like to make sure people here it, then so be it, it's not like the majority of us planned to fly to Munich to see OLP anyway.

i like avril's music. her CD has good songs on it. although she didnt write them, shes not who she says she is, and yes shes pre packaged to appeal to all the teenage girl "rebels" out there.

In Canada Our Lady Peace opening for Avril would be something to wonder about, in Europe Our Lady Peace opening for Avril is how it should be .. OLP are barely known over there, Avril is known as far as Malaysia and this will get OLP some attention ... is that a good thing? Yes
