The Blood Brothers

Alright, I'll say right upfront that TBBs aren't for everyone.

HOWEVER. If you're interested in hearing that band that's being touted as blazing a shockingly original and fiercely compelling trail between blistering, scream-yourself-empty hardcore and wildly engaging, intensely intellectual indie rock, here's your band.

Imagine if Coheed And Cambria, Refused, and The Mar Volta spent one sweaty night together doing unspeakably sinful things. TBB would be their angst ridden offspring, adopting the vocal inflections (read: falsetto) and teeth gnashing attitudes of the first, the sheer intensity and penchant for no apologies audio pioneering of the second, and the third's sweeping, epic abstraction punctuated by sinister synths and guitar heroism.

The result is one intense musical experience, with songs running the gamut from boot-to-the-face rockers to maniacal, quiet creep outs. The name of this game is complexity, and it is also creativity. If you like any of the bands mentioned above, Alexisonfire, Underoath, Across Five Aprils, or any band that can be summed up with the suffix "core", you must give The Blood Brothers a listen.

Also, if you think you've heard screaming in music before, Johnny Whitney and Jordan Blilie's tandem vocal attack (which serves as both TBB's biggest selling point and their biggest turnoff, depending on how you like your hardcore) will knock you on your ass. :nod:

Tracks for downloading:

Love Rhymes With Hideous Car Wreck
Pink Tarantulas
Champagne Party
Ambulance Vs. Ambulance
Cecilia And The Silhouette Saloon

Go forth. Tell me how much you love them. Or hate them.

Either way, I'm going to pimp this band like mad until I get a satisfactory response. :D

:drool:

So weird. So good.

One of my favourite things about them is the lyrics. Although a little difficult to decipher while listening (tee hee), they're all over the place, dark, twisted, thought-provoking and really poetic. Seriously. Wow.

For instance (sorry for the crappy capitalization, not my fault):

Cecilia and the Silhouette Saloon

murder = white out.
cancer = birth blouse.
mirror = perfect glass spouse.
oil = sex paint.
shower = water saint.
Death decodes the howls from our hands.
skull = noise nest.
TV = fuck test.
mirror = siamese gun kiss.
sugar = birth bait.
murder = loves fate.
death distills the camouflage from our dance.
death inverts the red from romance.
Death x-rays the angels of chance.
death; the anti mirror of infants.
Like a picture hiding beneath the digital Avalanche.
When cecilia's grave cracked like a dirt cacoon,
she pulled up a stool at the silhouette saloon.
The player piano mumbling crippled jigs,
black widows knitting victimless wigs.
When cecilia's throat slit like a second set of lips
she drooled braille bibles onto the brothel bed spread,
like an egg whose yoke defies child bearing hips.
Like a ghost who fears all of the deceased and dead.
(time eats the flesh and spits out the shadow like a useless wishbone.)
But that locket spinning around her neck,
whose hearth heats a dead valentine,
you know the phantom trail leads way to a muted grave.
Where is his voice now?
A dead tone in the flutter of drunken wings,
Where is his blushed cheek now,
A face unraveled in shadow, veiled in blind laughter.
Where are those sex ripened lips,
his kiss print still warm on several necks.
Where is love now?

murder = white out.
cancer = birth blouse.
mirror = perfect glass spouse.
oil = sex paint.
shower = water saint.
Death decodes the howls from our hands.
skull = noise nest.
TV = fuck test.
mirror = siamese gun kiss.
sugar = birth bait.
murder = loves fate.
death distills the camouflage from our dance.
death inverts the red from romance.
Death x-rays the angels of chance.
death; the anti mirror of infants.
Like a picture hiding beneath the digital Avalanche.

Other than that, they're quite danceable (or convulse...able?) and you'll just find yourself grinning at their insane and totally original breed of music.

the problem here is that there's really NO good starting point for this band. you just have to give them a chance i guess.

.....and USA Nails is another must. so go find it.

That's weird. I can just imagine all the Sing The Sorrow-only fans just spitting with rage. :lol:

:neutral: that's not kewl. i don't care if a band isn't your bag...they're up on stage doing their thing for you, and people go and show all kinds of ill-mannered behaviour. not kewl at all.
