Postby Joanne » 12/20/2004, 8:08 pm

i had a lot of favorites this year, but most of the cd's i bought were not released this year. of the ones that were...

Howie Day - Stop all the World Now
Slivertide - Show and Tell
Velvet revolver - Contraband (could have been better, but was close enough to my standards )

Hey, I just had to throw my favorite albums of the year out there.

Fabulous Muscles is an amazing album. The song of the same title, however, is rather creepy. I'm fairly certain it's the most disturbing love song I've ever heard.

You all knew I'd be back, just for this thread alone. I'll go away now.

Bye everyone!

other awesome albums:

Death From Above 1979 - You're a woman, i'm a machine
Muse - Absolution......it didn't come out here untill 04
Metric's album was cool
Billy Talent
The Trews - House of Ill Fame

"The white dove is gone, the one world has come down hard, so why not share the pain of our problems, when all around are wrong ways, when all around is hurt, i'll roll up in an odd shape and wait, untill the tide has turned.....with anger, i'm dead weight, i'm anchored"- IME, God Rocket (Into the Heart of Las Vegas) ^ Some say this song is about a terrorists thoughts before 911

"Pray for the sheep" Matt Good
"But it's alright, take the world and make it yours again" Matt Good

I felt it in the wind, and i saw it in the sky, i thought it was the end, i thought it was the 4th of July.

Just because I am sexy, naked, a bassist, and sporting a top hat doesn't make me Duncan Coutts!

I did. I think Rob did too.

It's good, but I really believe they lost all the energy they had recording the demos. It sounds like they don't know what they did when they did to start, so they ended up copying themselves and sounding over rehearsed and under creative.

John Nolan said in an interview that they recorded the album basically by sequestering themself in a studio in the middle of nowhere and recording over and over and over again, like it was a job and he found the whole process tedious.

Eh. It's good. They lost the spark the had though.

yea that album is just boring.

the demos had this raw emotion that seemed like it could have evolved. Instead it just got slower and more boring. I think John needs to rock out some more because he had a screaming voice in Taking Back Sunday. The slow shit is good but it is just so over produced.

See them live. I agree that the album pales in comparison to the demos that were available on the website. The entire album (with the exception of Sympathy for the Martyr) is overproduced. But if you want to see that raw emotion, see them live.
