I saw the brand new Billy Talent video yesterday. I was a lucky person, seeming as the video was taken down quickly after it was leaked.

I was very, very impressed by the song, and was happy to see that the band evolved in a nice direction. They've grown up. :)

It's called Rusted From The Rain, in case anyone is interested.

I don't know if there are any "Brand New" fans around here anymore but there is a clip of their upcoming single "At The Bottom" on amazon. http://bit.ly/3zTMIo From the sounds of it, they've progressed as a band yet again. Lyrics are killer as usual.

ohhh!! New Brand New?!!?! super exciting.

Also, I had a listen to the new Billy Talent and it's really really good! I like it a lot! Much better than their last album.

I keep meaning to get into Brand New. Girlfriend loves them. I have listened to Deja Entendu a couple times and not fallen in love. But maybe there's still hope!
I just wanna get out,
Stuck inside of this.
Waiting for something else,

You think III>II? Hmm. I don't know where I stand. III isn't as fun as II, but it shows a lot of maturity.

Their first is still my fav-o.

I have a firm belief that the only decent way to get into Brand New is to get into the albums chronologically. Get into Your Favorite Weapon first, and it may not seem great because its pretty pop-punk, but its got some really great tracks. Listening to that record makes Deja much more relevant. (Or is does to me. And since you seem to be interested in the progression of bands, I think you'll appreciate it too.)

But the Devil and God are Raging Inside of Me? Just blows me out of the water. I can't express how good I think that album is. But still. Go in order.
So psyched for Daisy now. :O

Yeah I think the issue I had with the second album was that... I grew up in between and the band didn't. :P IMO I > III > II.
This new one is particularly enjoyable for me. A lot of recycled riffs, and unoriginal sounds, but its really fantastic lyrically and it's really catchy.

I'm actually gonna sound really uneducated in the ways of Brand New here...

The first album I heard was The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Of Me, and I love it... But I tried to listen to the other previous albums with the same friend who got me into the band - and it was way too high-school-poppy for my tastes based on what I heard.

I'm not really trying to make any opinion here, but I'm not sure what one would stand to gain going in chronological order based on such a big shift in style.

I guess to me, the change in style is also a change in lyrical contect, ability, and tone. I get a lot more out of the albums through knowing where they came from, and what changes have been made. Its like being able to see what the causes were to that effect.

Some times an album is kind of like a monologue that might be great on its own. But watching the whole play, makes you appreciate it in a whole new way.

I think its possible to start with "Deja Entendu", and ignore "My Favorite Weapon" at first. The fact that Brand New released "Weapon" and followed it up with "Deja" doesn't even make sense to me. "Deja" is such a mind blowing leap forward in maturity that it was pretty hard to reconcile the two albums for me (I started with Deja). Regardless, "The Devil an God are Raging Inside Me" is easily my favorite, even with the two throw-away tracks. For those new to Brand New, do yourself a favor and download/buy the b-sides "Brothers" and "Fork and Knife" and replace the instrumentals. Seriously though, that record is easily one of my favorites of all time.

The cover, and track listing for Brand New's upcoming record, "Daisy" was released today.

An aside. For those of you who like Brand New, I STRONGLY urge you to check out Manchester Orchestra. The band will not only be touring with Brand New this year, but also is quite similar in a lot of ways. I could go on and on and explain how great this band is, but you can go listen to a large portion of the record yourself on their myspace. For real though. If you are a fan of the band, you have to promise that you'll go listen. Deal? Deal. http://www.myspace.com/manchesterorchestra

I think we have a few other Breaking Benjamin fans here (Neil, and maybe Johnny I think?). They just announced that their fourth album will be released September 29th, and it's titled Dear Agony. The first single, I Will Not Bow, is going to be released August 17th.

Brand New's single "At the Bottom" was played on the radio today. Someone managed to rip it from a stream. The first 20-25 seconds are apparently missing and there are a few skips but it still provides a very clear picture of what the song will be like. I think its a fantastic song and a logical progression from "The Devil and God."

Yeah, there are a few riffs where I will honestly think I'm in an old song. One part of Sudden Movements is like Nothing to Lose all over again. I just... I will always love this band because I will always love the guys in it. They're great guys. They definitely showed growth lyrically, and got quite a bit darker.

And thank goodness there are no awkward computer references this album. "Control, alt-deleted! RESET MY MEMORY!" or "There is no doubt you'd throw your inbox out..."
