Did punk rock get it right?

Thursday

Postby Flea21212 » 4/26/2004, 6:25 pm

Hey I was wondering if anyone here listens to "Thursday"

They're labled an "emo" band however I don't really find them emo.

But they have their own distinct style that can take some listeing to get accoustumed to. Anyways If you like OLP's lyrics then you'll really like their's. All there songs have great depth and meaning especialy "Understanding In A Car Crash" and "Jet Black New Year". If nothing else just read those lyrics.

Songs to check out:

Understanding In A Car Crash
Standing On The Edge of Summer
Autobiography Of A Nation
Signals Over The Air

yeah i just heard a song on my college radio by them. I'm not sure of the name but i think it might have been "lights out on division street". prety sweet band
"How can we justify spending so much on destruction and so little on life?" Matthew Good

"The white dove is gone, the one world has come down hard, so why not share the pain of our problems, when all around are wrong ways, when all around is hurt, i'll roll up in an odd shape and wait, untill the tide has turned.....with anger, i'm dead weight, i'm anchored"- IME, God Rocket (Into the Heart of Las Vegas) ^ Some say this song is about a terrorists thoughts before 911

"Pray for the sheep" Matt Good
"But it's alright, take the world and make it yours again" Matt Good

I felt it in the wind, and i saw it in the sky, i thought it was the end, i thought it was the 4th of July.

no my city only has 3 radio stations up untill this month. Hot 101 which is top 40 and rap. Star 94 which is top 40 and old light rock. And KX 96 which is "West-Man's Best Rock! The old rock you love and the new rock you need" Excpet it only plays one "new rock" song every hour and it Nickleback 90% of the time, and the classic rock they play is all 80's bullshit hairband crap.

So now we just got a college radio station that is awesome. And now i have a chance to hear good music on my radio. Besides i'm not as big into the punk scene, other then a few indie and garage type bands.

I can't seem to find it anywhere.. however I might have seen it in a store awhile ago but it was $26 or something crazy like that. But I'll look some more or add it to my list of CDs to buy online.

Yeah get Full Collapse first chance you get, I was like you and got War All The Time first, which is a good introduction cd, but I think many, including myself, feel that Full Collapse is much better. Not that WATT is bad, but Full Collapse is just really good.

i cant say it's a lot better, but it's definitely up there. i think WATT has some absolutely brilliant songs on it, but overall FC might be stronger.

Waiting is damn good too, but i haven't really gotten into it yet like the others.

I prefer Full Collapse to War All The Time, I downloaded them both in shitty mp3 format cos they dont sell their albums here. I like them, but they can get quite annoying after awhile, I usually get bored towards the end of albums.

Ever since I've known about Thursday, I thought that CD was called "war of all time." Why? I don't know. But I just realized now, WATT wouldn't make sense if that were the title. Yes. Just incase anyone wanted to know.
