The Mars Volta

I just heard Eriatarka for the first time. it is probably one of the best songs i have heard in a long long time. I can't understand what's so good about it which is the thing that makes it so incredible. Anyways, I'm sure there are other fans of them here. i was wondering what some other good songs by them/sparta/ATDI i should listen to.

The house half the way
Fell empty with teeth that
Split both his lips
Mark these words
One day this chalk outline will circle this city
Was he robbed of the asphalt that cushioned his face?
A room coloured charlatan hid in a safe

Those lyrics from Televator are just incredible!

unfortunately i can't think of any particular good songs no one has mentioned right now other than Patern Against User by At the Drive In.
don't look now, just keep watching the TV hating what's too see waiting for someone to say something that's right.

Wow, now that i ahve heard a good amount of songs by each band... it is a tough choice... but i think that Mars Volta gets my vote for the best. All three are great though.

the mars volta had the best album of the year. no questions asked, every song is a masterpiece and NOBODY sounds like the mars volta. eriatarka is simply phenomenal. i mentioned that song a few days ago in the "simply beautiful" thread. if you like mars volta, try anything by At The Drive In, different sound but it's the same lead singer and it's also good stuff.

Not to put you down or anything, but come on, we all know about At The Drive In man...
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.
