Third Eye Blind - Ursa Major

I don't know if many of you like 3eb the way I do, but I thought it might be fitting to start a discussion about their new album in the works here due to a relativley similar genre. I get most of my info from The Village Churchyard fan forums. The guitarist Tony frequently posts updates and other stuff there.

This is what I gather so far:

The band has been going through a kind of cult following rebirth lately. The album they are recording (right now in fact!) has been in the works for two years. I know... it sounds like a new "Chinese Democracy", but they are finally in the studio laying down tracks and have a lot of cool stuff that's about to break. They just got back from a couple weeks touring Japan and have done dozens of sold out shows over the last year. They've debuted an albums worth of songs live... anyways, you can probably find out most of this by lurking there if you're interested.

In addition to a new album they will be overhauling their official site (which hasn't been updated FOREVER) and starting their own imprint label for distribution. Supposedly they finally lit a fire under Stephan Jenkins butt sufficient to finally do something. Here's hoping they finally cash in here.

Thoughts?

PS - the album is supposed to drop November/December with possible digital release/album single in August/September

I'm a fan. I'll definitely be interested in hearing the first single when it drops.

Just FYI, 3eb's guitar player Tony just sent one the the TVCY moderators a bunch of studio video updates that are posted on the band's official myspace and facebook pages. There is one that is about 7 minutes long that gives a couple rough preview snippets of one of the songs.

Nah, they haven't broken up... but their bass player (Arion Salazar) did leave.

ANYWAYS, if you haven't already seen floating around online they have a new song up called "Non-Dairy Creamer". It's the focal point of a mix/remix contest on this site (www.indabamusic.com). The music is good, but the lyrics are bleh. Not nearly the lyrically genius of records past. There is still hope for the rest of the record though, the boots of a lot of new songs show a lot of promise.

**SUPER THREAD REVIVAL**

I really love Ursa Major. I never expected it to be as good as it actually is. Bonfire is a new classic for them in my opinion. What do you guys think?

I never got into them beyond Blue. Which is weird, because I loved Blue, really a lot. On some days, more than their debut.

So yeah, I should get into their last two albums, I guess.
I just wanna get out,

the first few listens are really solid and you're like "what an awesome cd" then you listen a few more times and go "okay... enough".. i was apart of that indaba contest and i actually won public vote for "red star". we were suppose to get autographed cd's but instead i got an apology from indaba because third eye blind didn't hold up on their end of the deal.
and if i don't make it know that i've loved you all along.
