I thought Lovedrug needed some love on here. They're an awesome band. If you don't know who they are, you should check out their MySpace:

http://www.myspace.com/lovedrug

Some of the songs off their new album are up there. Amazing work this time around. I wasn't sure if they could live up to Pretend You're Alive, but honestly they've taken their music to a new level, with a whole new sound. It's more complex, it's more lyrical, it's more sound than Pretend.

I can't stop listening to "Salt of the Earth" and "Ghost By Your Side". Those are hands down two of my very favorite songs on the album. The title and ending track, "Everything Starts Where It Ends" is a gorgeous, slow, almost-ballad, that gives me chills when I listen to it.

I love this band.

Check them out if you haven't already.

Pushing the Shine, Doomsday & the Echo, and American Swimming Lesson thanks. The songs you listed are good too though.

Did you read my comment about Michael Shepard in the CD thread? I guess I should clarify. He posted a rant about people downloading music illegally when the new album leaked, and I posted a reply to his second "clarification" about why he was upset, saying how if it weren't for illegal downloading I wouldn't have even bought Pretend You're Alive, fell in love with various songs on that album, and wouldn't eagerly be anticipating his band's second album. Thus I was saying even though it sucked there wouldn't be people who ever paid for his music, I have and will thanks to such early activity and that the issue isn't as black and white as some make it out to be. All comments needed to be approved before being posted, and... guess what happened? My comment never showed up with the replies, and the only replies that did were those that agreed with what he said. Nice way to treat a fan with a different opinion, huh? So... that's why I think he might be a bit of a dick. But he sure can write a catchy tune.

I didn't read it, I haven't seen that thread pop up in a while so I might have missed it.

Eh, dick or no, I think part of his issue may be that they're still trying to make a name for themselves (I still don't hear a single song of theirs on the radio) and illegal downloading (though it really does help their record sales) seems like it would be costing them their due.

I can see how it can go both ways. I just like how OLP has a progressive look at the whole thing, where they don't seem to care if people download their stuff.

I understand why he think what he thinks. I just didn't appreciate being censored out like that because if they are such a small band, they shouldn't really phase out a paying fan's opinion. Doing something like that could backfire on them and not help the band out in the long run. I let the music speak louder than how any personal grudges though, and that's why I was able to push the sale of the new album on someone this weekend without them even hearing a lick of the music. It is my second favorite album of the year so far, too.

Oh yeah I agree with you.

And since it's the only album I've bought all year, it's my favorite. That might change when the Chantal CD is available in the US on 5/1 though.

But so far...yeah, I'm loving it. A lot. So much I'm dragging Brian to one of their shows this month :D

How appropriate that you have to drag someone to a Lovedrug show.

Lovedrug just sent out an e-mail to their list:

Greetings,

Lovedrug are preparing to burst forth from their creative cocoon into the
weird, twisted looking moth you might expect. Naturally they have designs
on releasing a new album later this year (October 28th to be exact). The
album will be titled "The Sucker Punch Show" and we've posted a track
called "Everyone Needs A Halo". Look out; it's a rocker.

The band will be be on the road this fall and tour dates will be
forthcoming in next couple weeks. For more information, to comment,
observe, criticize, etc. please visit www.Lovedrugmusic.com or choose your
portal of choice (i.e. Facebook, MySpace, iLike, PureVolume etc.).

More to follow,
Lovedrug HQ

I did the second pre-order with the EP and the shirt. Pretty good deal for what comes to $36.80. I'm psyched.

It was quite a surprise to see that they're putting out another album so quickly. I've listened to it a few times, and it's different. Still good though. Just not always typically Lovedruggy.

I guess Michael went on a little tirade about this album leaking, too, and once again I pointed out my thoughts on the matter. Never went back to see if they were deleted though, haha. But after pointing out that my comments were deleted last time, and that was sort of a slap in the face to one of their paying fans (bought both albums, saw them live last May plus am going to see them again in November), I could guess that it wasn't. Who knows.

Do they have their own message boards somewhere? Or did you just post on their MySpace or something?

Aha, ok. I hardly ever go on MySpace so the only way I find out about things is through e-mail lists and this message board :X

Myspace has become really handy for bands now that you can get updates to when a band updates anything on their page. You don't always have to check their page to get the latest info anymore.
