Silverchair

Their new song premiered online today.

Here: http://www.chairpage.com

Or here: http://www.myspace.com/silverchair

I know there are a couple of 'chair fans here, so what do you think of the new song? I like it, but I'm not sure how much. I think I'm just more excited by the fact it's the first song we've heard from them in five years.

not lazy, just mostly not here.

I checked out the song a few days ago (someone else told me to listen to it). I like it.

I haven't listened to Silverchair since Diarama (i think i fucked up the spelling... oh well) ... was that their last album... i have no idea anymore... freakshow wasn't very good though. Neon Ballroom and Frog Stomp are good though... Diarama (still can't spell i don't think) was a bit overly poppy... but still worth a listen.

They recently released another album, Young Modern. It's a bit more poppy but still worth a listen I think. You should give Freakshow another try, it's pretty good actually. At least better than Frog Stomp.

I like the album a lot. Despite being a bit ballad heavy, I still think it's heavier than Diorama was. The band (Daniel Johns?) seems to have traded younger aggression for more of a swagger though. And he screws with his voice a lot on this album, being a bit theatrical and purposely over the top at times. Same goes for the music. I wouldn't say it's as good as Diorama (and definitely can't touch Neon Ballroom), but overall it's pretty solid. And Straight Lines is not a good indication of the overall feel of the album even though I like it.

I bought tickets for the SD show. Didn't realize it was their first show in the U.S. in eight years though. Should be good. And since they've been playing in Australia a lot already, not rusty at all.

It's not, it's just their first show in the US outside of New York, LA, or Toronto in 8 years. :)

Oops, I meant North America. And I think I also meant Montreal. Or maybe they played Montreal in 2003 and Toronto this year. I forget.

Just 4... all of the California dates. We barely found out before walking out the door to head to San Diego... good thing I went to chairpage to check what time the show was supposed to start at. :)

They still did the Craig Ferguson taping though (and I guess Leno earlier in the week), that was fun. The band played first, which I guess makes the most sense because they have gear to set up first and the set is too small to have it out for the whole show, and they taped most of Thursday's episode (everything but the section about the honorary citizen campaign), and a bit which was probably for Friday (a bit about Harry Potter and different honorary citizen updates), and one interview which I believe airs tomorrow.
