Postby LifeRiot » 6/29/2006, 12:15 pm

I dont know if anyone likes these guys, but there new cd is on myspace, http://www.myspace.com/muse

It is probably the best cd of the year. Great and political lyrics, beautiful piano and guitar work...It is just the answer to the music needs.

"How can we justify spending so much on destruction and so little on life?" Matthew Good

"The white dove is gone, the one world has come down hard, so why not share the pain of our problems, when all around are wrong ways, when all around is hurt, i'll roll up in an odd shape and wait, untill the tide has turned.....with anger, i'm dead weight, i'm anchored"- IME, God Rocket (Into the Heart of Las Vegas) ^ Some say this song is about a terrorists thoughts before 911

"Pray for the sheep" Matt Good
"But it's alright, take the world and make it yours again" Matt Good

I felt it in the wind, and i saw it in the sky, i thought it was the end, i thought it was the 4th of July.

I'm going to see them on the 19th. I refuse to listen to the album until it's released though (something I rarely do).

Supermassive Black Hole is ridiculous. Just plain ridiculous.

Apparently the rest is better?

I agree, it teeters on Prince, and the guitar is simple but so catchy. It is kind of like their song Microcuts, but rethought as a dance song.

I really enjoy SMBH as well. It's so different from their other stuff, but it's fun. Oh and Matt's hot in the video.

Yeah, "Knights of Cydonia" is like Bohemian Rhapsody on Mushrooms.

Has anyone seen the video for "Knights"? It's the weirdest thing I've ever seen...

http://streamos.wbr.com/download/wbr/mu ... ia_700.wmv

I like the album. I don't think it's as good as "Absolution," but it holds its own. There are some things I could nitpick over (overly simplistic lyrics, reverting back to their old ways 1/3 of the way through the album when it starts off in an interesting new direction), but... it's just nitpicking. I like it, and I'm looking forward to seeing them live tomorrow night!

Muse setlist:

1. Take a Bow
2. Hysteria
3. Map of the Problematique
4. Butterflies and Hurricanes
5. Supermassive Blackhole
6. Sunburn
7. Soldier's Poem
8. Starlight
9. Plug In Baby
10. Invincible
11. Bliss
12. City of Delusion
13. New Born
14. Stockholm Syndrome

Encore:
Apocalypse Please
Time is Running Out
Knights of Cydonia

Yep. Eight songs from BHaR, and only one from "Showbiz." Understandable, of course, since BHaR is the album they're promoting. I wish they had played "Citizen Erased" and "Blackout" though. Otherwise, I was happy with the set.

Muse pics:

http://mightyfingernails.homestead.com/ ... 0_0310.jpg (Hysteria)
http://mightyfingernails.homestead.com/ ... 0_0312.jpg (Sunburn)

http://mightyfingernails.homestead.com/ ... 0_0315.jpg (T-Shirt and crazy headlights)

My camera takes terrible pictures at night though. I have a third one that I took with some incredible lights, but Matt just looks like a glowing blur.

And a video snippet of "Bliss":

I hope the video works. It plays on my Kodak software, but doesn't show when I try to play it regularly on Quicktime.

so i just discovered muse...

and i'm pretty much in love.

starlight is definitely my new favourite song. i can't stop listening.
you have to, you just have to trust me
whoever i was then i can't ever be again
the faith you've found i've never felt
the terror held in wedding bells
the comfort in "there's no one else"
the truth be told, i'm never going to know

mmm, while it may be the best album of the year and all... it's not THEIR best album. I'm going to see them for my third time on May 8th when they open for My Chemical Romance......... to which i will be leaving after Muse's set, (CAUSE I REALLY HATE MCR... personal opinion)... anyhow. I would suggest that if you (anyone) hasn't heard any of their other albums-- to go find them and listen cause they're ten times better...
think about it... Black Holes is damn good... but their other albums are just so much better.

Muse and My Chem. What an odd combination.

I find that muse songs are kind of hit or miss. Either just phenomenal and captivating or just forgettable. I'm not sure what it is. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who finds this.

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.
