Emily Haines

General Music area.
Did punk rock get it right?

I will never understand why people don't like Live It Out. I don't think there's anything to complain about on the record, and I think it's head and shoulders above Old School Underground. I'm super cereal.

And I didn't say Knives... isn't a good record. I actually quite like it, even if that the plodding tempo kind of drags the album down about halfway through the album. Like I said though, it's just something you can't listen to whenever you want. It's an overall quiet record, and should only be put on times when you actually want to relax.

And yes, better than Amy Milan's record by a mile.

i thought Emily's record was leaked ages ago. hmm.

i personally like the songs on Live It Out much more than the ones on Old World... I can't even listen to their 1st album anymore. if i do, i end up skipping songs.

Emily's record might've leaked longer ago than I thought, but it only showed up on Oink recently. Nevertheless, I'm still going to get it.

i've had it for about two weeks, maybe not quite that.

you don't happen to have an Oink invite with no one in line do you?

i've got a few leaks i can pass along on the off chance they aren't already up there.

It made me want the album.

I bought the album on the weekend. It's basically Metric without any fast pace songs. I've only given it a couple listens but so far it ranks below Feist and Amy's solo albums in my opinion.

See.... I don't really like Fiest or Amy, so I'm thinking I should get it cause I like metric. But I shouldn't cause I probably wont like it.

well you're both going to hell.

so now that that's settled, I would say that Matthew Good is better than Feist, but Feist is the best female soloist I've ever heard.

Feist is amazing. A bit overrated though.

Emily Haines' Solo disc is pretty good, it grows on you a lot. If you're looking for Metric though look elsewhere. It's really really slow paced and mostly piano driven. You won't find a fast song on it. My only complaint is it all blends together to easily.

Still I enjoy it more all the time, and she has some great piano pieces in there. They're really simple but sound beautiful.
"How can we justify spending so much on destruction and so little on life?" Matthew Good

"The white dove is gone, the one world has come down hard, so why not share the pain of our problems, when all around are wrong ways, when all around is hurt, i'll roll up in an odd shape and wait, untill the tide has turned.....with anger, i'm dead weight, i'm anchored"- IME, God Rocket (Into the Heart of Las Vegas) ^ Some say this song is about a terrorists thoughts before 911

"Pray for the sheep" Matt Good
"But it's alright, take the world and make it yours again" Matt Good

I felt it in the wind, and i saw it in the sky, i thought it was the end, i thought it was the 4th of July.

I thought it sounded like all of Metric's slow songs. I guess that's what I meant by it sounding like Metric without the fast tempo. every so often listening to it you expect her to break into something fast and catchy.
