Did punk rock get it right?

OK, mp3s and mp3s burned onto cds do not count as owning albums. I don't care if you bought them on iTunes or downloaded them illegally. They simply don't count.

(By the way, that wasn't specifically to you... your post just triggered my rage.)

...most of them are burned.

Wait. Have I ever posted my list?

I agree. Even about iTunes. Who in their right mind would pay for mp3's unless there's absolutely no other way? :wtf:

exactly. the only way I'd pay for MP3s on iTunes is if an artist released something exclusively through iTunes.

I hate the whole idea of iTunes exclusives. I mean if you think about it, once you pay for the mp3, it's worth exactly $0.00. I mean, you can't resell it like you can a CD. Plus there's the whole quality issue. Plus the lack of cover art/linar notes. Yeah, you miss out on a lot buying mp3s instead of CDs, but to each their own.

Our Lady Peace Live 1995 (autographed) Rock $40.00
Our Lady Peace Live 1995 (autographed) Rock $8.00

what happened there??
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

As for the things you miss out on - that's why it costs a lot less.

I really prefer CDs, but iTunes exclusives are the only way I'd buy digital music.

The second one was in a lot of like 5 discs that ended up costing me $40ish if I remember correctly... so individually each thing in it was about $8.

In most cases I think I would try to illegally get any itunes exclusives that I'm interested in rather than paying for them because while I would probably want to support the artists, I really don't want to support the concept of itunes.

Depends on the artist, I guess. If it's someone huge who doesn't need it, screw it. If it's someone I really want to support, I'd buy them.

Only one I'll count is Greenwheel's "Electric Blanket" cos, well... there's no other way to own it. Plus the band (or someone directly related, anyway) burned it themselves.

Oh wait, and a few Burn Kate cds for the same reason.
