Did punk rock get it right?

Postby megxyz128 » 7/8/2003, 7:50 pm

aww, I totally want to go to Koufax now for a mini-CM meetup/reunion of sorts.

Anyway, you've put me in a review mode, so here I go:

Okay, so AFI in New York. Best concert ever. Anyways, I get there at 12 p.m., yeah I know, 7 hours early Megan, why on Earth would you do such a thing? Well, since our hotel checkout was at 11 we had absolutely nothing else to do besides cruise Chili Street and anyone from Rochester would know it would be a lot better to be bored to death waiting in line for 7 hours. Anyway, we get there just at AFI are getting off of their tourbus, it was pretty sweet. Okay show time.

First band was Static Age. They're a Jade Tree band, and sound like a Jade Tree band. This is not a bad thing, they were really good. The keyboard chick had the coolest hair on Earth, I was gonna go get a picture with her after just so I could have a picture of her hair. Anyways.

Next up was The Explosion. This was my 3rd time seeing them and OMG I love them now. They're a 70's-ish style punk band who have crazy energy. SO SO good, everyone check them out.

Next up, freaking AFI. Everyone was screaming "Through our bleeding, We are one" before, which is standard, and the ugly bald security guy was making fun of the crowd, I just wanted to punch him. And I could have, because waiting in line for 7 hours has it's benefits, I was in the freaking front row, next to Jade. Awesome. Okay, this is getting really long, but AFI rocked. They played some old stuff which was freakin' cool. Loved it. Oh and I got punched by this stupid chick who I got in a fight with during a show, definite highlight of the night.

After the show I waited behing and met and got pictures with all of the band, minus Davey because he was born in Rochester so he was hanging with the fam. Understood. I didn't mind though, because I got to freaking meet Jade. Oh, and Hunter is the funniest dude I've ever met in my life.

Okay, that's WAY too long, and probably boring. Pictures coming soon.

Everyone from Michigan, please go to see Koufax. I will pay your cover at the door, if you are 18 or over. I mean anyone, please, I want to hang out with some new people. Hell, I will even pay for Stephanie if she wants to go. This band is amazing, you all have to see them.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Kimmy, listen to me. The band is amazing live, but the vocals are upsetting. When I saw them, all I could think of was Kelly Osbourne. But then again, the band I saw was Pretty Girls Maks Graves, and I don't know if you just messed up on the name or what.

I see that you're from Ann Arbor Joel, so if you wanna just meet up with me July 15, I will gladly give you a couple posters and stickers. If you wanna see Koufax, that would be even better, because they are amazing.

olp play all for you, sd, innocent, wipe that smile off your face, walking in circles, birdman, not enough, clumsy, SOT, starseed ... sop ten with way too much gravity ... nothing off happiness or SM i was extremely disappointed by that but birdman was absoulutely amazing and the new songs made up for it

oh and the koufax concert is at the blind pig at 9:30 so ALan i will be at least there to pick up guster stuff if you bring it, and hopefully i will be able to get in

Yeah, I'll make sure to bring it, I need to unload of some of this stuff. Also, are you a fan of Hot Hot Heat? I have 10 posters and 20 stickers of theirs if you're interested in any of it.

Last concert I saw was the free Guster show on City Hall Plaza. I loved the bongos but wasn't impressed at all by the lyrics, and even Fa Fa, the only Guster song I'd liked previously, wasn't good.

Tell me people, why is it y'all love Guster so much? I need to hear from people who like the band.

Great Big Sea, Nickel Creek and some other opening band whose name I can't remember on Monday.

I know I don't like Guster, I just have all of their swag.

Note to anyone going to the Koufax show with me. If you do decide to go, bring as many people to the show as you can. I don't want them to have another horrible turn out, so invite people who are willing for a night of fun music. I've got a good 10 people going, which is about 1/3 of the people that were at their last show. Everyone needs to invite their friends.

i saw sum 41 last week... they were pretty good, except for the fact that deryck was piss drunk and they came on late... and 2 of the opening bands were kind of crappy.. the first one played about 10 songs, 6 of which were instrumental.. then there was a half hour wait, then the second band played, then a 45 min wait, then the 3rd band, which was actually good played for like a half hour.. then another 2 hr wait to see sum 41. but all that waiting was worth it.

Koufax on Tuesday? Yes, that is right, I am seeing the coolest of cool bands Tuesday! I am bringing a camera, so pictures will come soon enough.
