Is the CM ever going to replace the numbers in the menu to meaningful links that explain where you're going? Just curious.

And by that, I mean... ask Al. :*)**

I dig it.
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

isn't it a bit confusing to newcomers... it took me 15 minutes the first time it changed to figure out how to get to the forums.

I agree. As of now I really only know what 1 and 2 do. Probably because I only use the forums and main page, but thats beside the point. I should know what they all do without having to use them to find out. I love the design, and give all kudos to Al but the numbers can be confusing.

well, if you hover over the first three, you can tell what they are by the address. but it might be easier if they were named what they are and not numbers for the new people.

I like the numbers. It's stylish, and it only takes one click each to figure out what they do. Are you really in that much of a hurry?

Why do we have a calendar? It seems to me that it is of little use

Well, it would be of use if people would use it. Put up your birthday, etc.

Also, it would be useful if OLP was actually doing stuff that we could put on there.

I think the calendar is unnecessary. Other than that... is it really hard to learn which ones lead to which?

If we get rid of the calendar, and you still have trouble remembering, just think: number 3 (as it will be if calendar is deleted) leads the HUB page. HUB has three letters.

hahahahaha. I'm going to go kick something small.
I just wanna get out,
Stuck inside of this.

No but new people to the site are completely unaware of what kinds of features the site actually contains with the numbers. Dont get me wrong, its easy enough to figure it out, but you shouldnt have to figure it out in the first place. Its a fundimental element of design. I'm also not saying that you have to go with text. For example instead of numbers you could have small icons. For example, link "1" could be a house, link "3" could be a calander and link "5" could be a crown. As for the others, i'm sure you could come up with icons for them that would retain the original size of the numbers and tell new comers what type of stuff they bring you to. I'll gladly create the icons if anyone thinks its a good idea.

....why isn't there a link to the hub under "sexy links"?

Hmmm.. it appears nobody here has taken a Human Factors course.

Another example that our society is gravitating towards appearance over functionality. :D

Lets put it this way... imagine you buy a remote control. Would it be better if there were numbers on the buttons or pictures of farm animals? Sure, clicking on them a few times will sort out what they do, but wouldn't it be nice if they reflected what they were used for?

Man.

It's five buttons.

If it had pictures, you'd still have to click them at least once to figure out what they do. The numbers, just like the pictures, are symbols representing each page. It's really not that hard to figure out.
