Heres a thought, if their links mean so much to you, I would assume they would be bookmarked. Hey, the function is there for a reason. Perhaps I should get to know these people, I'm not saying I dislike anyone here, its jsut somethings can change. If I see someone with a big ass signature its like they are screaming for attention with every post. especially when its substantially larger than your actual post!! "Look at my online journal and these 3 other peopls! tee hee!! then stare at my picture again and again! Now read my random words over and over till you throw up!!" I know this is an online community, its great! But that has nothing to do with long ass signatures. Posts are important. Not sigs. FYI I have made a few friends here, Susan and Landon come to mind at first.
Yes, I do have high speed, but I didn't always, and I access the CM from my boyfriend's computer occasionally. The sigs certainly aren't what kill the speed when I do so, it's just the forum itself. These are some hefty pages.
And, yes, I do have their links bookmarked, but that doesn't change the fact that for many people on here, I used the links to their journals, websites, etc. that are in their sigs to first access their pages. I'm sure plenty of people do when they find someone on here they think seems cool, and wanna learn more about.
That's great that you made a few friends on here. But don't criticise the people on here's sigs whom you aren't friends with.
teelow wrote:To be honest, I missed when it when you explained what happened with the sig length. But so did al, when he called you a weirdo! And I am sorry for making it seem like I was talking around you. That truly was not my intention. But still, 5000? The average post is definetly significantly smaller.
Wow, that was a long post, dunno how you missed it.
But, that's ok, I'm glad that was cleared up. And, I'm sure Al called me a weirdo after reading that I had done it, anyway.
I only made it 5000 not so people could fill that up (dear god!
), but so there was no problem of "your sig is too long" (like it used to be... which is why I figured it had been something really high, and it had just accidentally been bumped down a zero). That error pisses me off like nobody's business. And I'm getting it again, now.
teelow wrote:Now, Rob made you a moderator? Isn't al the boss? shouldn't he be the one to decide this and make it happen? Us non mods have few clues to help us understand the rules. Like this "mod forum" you speak of. Shh! its a secret! So, without consideration of what any other mods or Al said, you went and changed it. Yeah, no one responded, but c'mon that is no excuse. Ask them personally or even ask us normies because we know stuff about the board too!
Rob pays for the board now, along with a few others (have for a while now), and so is one of the "bosses" on here. I'm friends with Rob, and was talking to him on AIM, so I asked him about the sig thing. He had no idea how/why it had been bumped down, so told me I could put it back up. Wasn't a big deal. Or so we thought.
teelow wrote:I'm not sorry I insulted 2 of your friends. I'm sure it was read mroe sarcastically than I meant. The fact is, the sigs were too long, and you (and maybe they) took it as an insult. I'm not 'going for you' Im debating this stuff. Not trying to pick fights.
Perhaps it was read more sarcastically than you meant it. But it came off quite nasty. Try to be more careful with your wording.
teelow wrote:The pictures are re-downloaded. The temp folders are deleted on my computer automatically. And I dont want these things filling up space. As little as it may be... Magic eh? "How childish".
Well, if you have your temp files deleted, that's an option you chose. Regardless, they'll still be there for a full visit to the CM. Nobody's got pictures so extremely large in their sigs that it really takes all that long to download them. Go take a look at... say... the Three Doors Down board (not a fan, but been checking it for OLP goodies every once in a while), then tell me our sigs are bad. Seriously. It's on their official site. Go look. You'll come back and love everyone here's sig.
teelow wrote:nikki, debate with me, dont argue. My OP consisted of old things that I became aware of since I have been here. Not NEW things.
Sorry, but I don't enjoy debates. I personally don't see any difference between a "heated" debate and an argument. So, I don't change my wording accordingly. I just speak my mind. That's just how I am.
teelow wrote:Nikki, I hate to sound like an ass here but, I also think your sig is too long. heh, I feel like a jackass saying it!! Personally its just the pictures that are a distraction to me. although A smile grew across my face when I read the joke about Max being a lawyer! ahhhh good stuff!
Yeah, I figured my sig was included in the "too long" ones. Like I said, as of right now, I can't edit it because of the fact that it's "too long". Though, it's only because my graphic urls are long, and I have a lot of hyperlinks. Which I don't think is fair... and is a big reason why I think the sig limit should be longer.
Oh, and that great quote's a Jeremy quote, by the way. Methinks I should add that to my sig, so people know that. Oh wait. Heh. I honestly just forgot that I can't. I also need to change the name of the club back to "Pookie Brigade" in my sig.
*head explodes*
