pop up ads?

Postby superboots » 1/2/2003, 4:53 pm

When I view the CM, I seem to be getting pop up ads every once in a while. Is this happening to anybody else, or is it just me?

Look for key words in the add, such as the name of the company/product. Then, go to the start menu and "search", then search for that word(s). If you find files by that name, make sure they're not important and delete them.

I used this thing I have called ad-aware, and I deleted all the pop-up ad programs. Hopefully, I won't get any more.

I had a spyware popup a few days ago. If the ad says anything about "This ad is not associated with the site you are viewing" then you have to delete it like I said up there.

If not, it could be Kazaa. A good tip is to go into Kazaa and preferences and tick "Do not function as a super-node". That way Kazaa won't be running at all when you exit from it.

I hate about Kazaa is those popup ads with the noise and sometimes there's no off button! You just have to wait it out.

Just right click on the ad's portion of your task bar, and "close". Sometimes that won't work right away, because many pop-ups have a start-up pop-up that comes up before the pop-up itself. :freak:

Yeah, those are SO annoying. The hub has those, too, but they're not popups... they're embedded. So you just have to deal with them. Make me wanna kill. I just know that one night I'm gonna leave my computer on and forget to mute it, and one of those is gonna come on and scare the living daylights outta me.

The ones on the hub even make noise. That is so annoying. I haven't gotten any here though. :)

^A lot of ads are doing it now, I think more people are creating them with flash making sound easier to do.
