let's play the Tour Song Pool game

Postby faninor » 3/20/2012, 4:24 pm

Okay so OLP has said they're gonna change up their setlists a lot more, play deep album cuts from the old records, we've had polls about what people want to hear and all that. Now I want to play a guessing game.

Make a list of all the songs that you think the band will actually play at least once during the tour from the 3/29 show in London to the 4/24 show in LA.

Then we'll see who really knows best using this scoring method:
+3 points for each song on your list which is played
-1 point for each song on your list which is not played
-1 point for each song which is played but was not on your list
In case of medleys... let's say just the "main" song counts
And songs will be considered "not played" until they're played at an actual concert -- ie, rehearsals and soundchecks don't count.

Just post your list here by noon Eastern time on the 29th, and after the end of the tour we can see who is the Most Psychic CMer of the Urban Grind Tour.

Here's my initial guess (I may alter it before the 29th):

Naveed
Clumsy
Superman's Dead
4am
Starseed
In Repair
If you Believe
Innocent
One Many Army
Angels/Losing/Sleep
Stealing Babies
Happiness and the Fish
Paper Moon
Heavyweight
Curve 1
Curve 2
Curve 3
Curve 4
Curve 5
Curve 6
Curve 7
Curve 8
Curve 9

The only things I'll have to revise are the songs from Curve, once I hear them, they may choose to not play one or two. I'm not sure if they'll play anything off of Burn Burn. Maybe Paper Moon and AYD?

This is a really interesting idea, but I'm a bit hesitant to make my picks mainly because I haven't heard Curve in it's entirety. Nonetheless I'll give it a go, and maybe come back to edit my picks before that first show. Keeping in mind that they said they're rehearsing some deep album tracks, here's my list:

Naveed
Supersatellite
Starseed
Birdman
Neon Crossing
Is it Safe?
Superman's Dead
Clumsy
4am
Automatic Flowers
Car Crash
One Man Army
Happiness & the Fish
Blister
Potato Girl
Thief
Is Anybody Home?
Stealing Babies
In Repair
Right Behind You
Somewhere Out There
Innocent
Bring Back the Sun
Angels Losing Sleep
Monkey Brains
Escape Artist
Refuge
Paper Moon
Allowance
Heavyweight
Fire in the Henhouse
If this is it
Window Seat
As Fast as You Can
Find Our Way
Rabbits

EDIT: I expanded my setlist, updated with Curve tracks. I imagine they'll play everything except for Will Someday Change and Mettle.

Side note, just spitballing here but I think we can expect to hear some covers and/or other rarities that we have no idea about. Would be so awesome if they resurrected Whatever or Our Time is Fading :) :)

Yeah I started to put a list together but it was starting to something more like a dream setlist rather than what I think will really happen... need to think about it. And knowing that they're touring with an extra musician changes things a bit -- although I think the SM shows basically proved that they probably can take on any song from their arsenal without a 5th musician.

Also keep in mind that they've said they'll be changing things up night to night! But who knows if this means they will be choosing from closer to 25 different songs they've rehearsed or closer to 45 different songs? :)

Ya I agree with pretty much everything you just said Josh...but still, love this idea of guessing the setlist, this should be fun!

ok I am not familiar with the new stuff. First set is what I think they would def do. Second Set is pure Guess

Naveed:

Naveed, Starseed, Birdman,
and going out on Limb here. Super Satelitte or Hope. >Though Dirty Walls would kill

Clumsy:
Clumsy, Superman'd Dead, Carnival
though 4AM and AF I can see them doing at all shows.

Happiness
IAH, OMA, THief, Potato Girl
Stealing Babies, Blister or Waited

Spiritual Machines
Mafia, In Repair, Junkie
If You Believe, Middle Of Yesterday, Made To Heal

Gravity
Not Enough,Innocent( they seem to love that song) Bring Back The Sun, Story About A Girl

HIPT
Will The Future Blame Us, Picture,A/L/S, BOy

Burn Burn
Paper Moon( didn't they say that was a staple now), Monkey Brains, Escape Artist

off new cd I really have no clue but from past experience they tend to do about half of recent cd.

also would be cool if they threw in some older songs not necessarily on cd.Covers. Love to see Eternal Life, Needle and Damage Done again..

I think a better question would be WHAT BAND IS RAINE GOING TO INCORPORATE A SONG INTO SET. ala KIDS-<MGMT

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

Final List:

Naveed
Starseed
Birdman
Denied

Superman's Dead
Clumsy
4AM
Car Crash

One Man Army
Happiness and the Fish
Is Anybody Home
Stealing Babies
Thief

In Repair
Everyone's a Junkie
If You Believe

Somewhere Out There
Innocent

Angels/Losing/Sleep

Paper Moon
Monkey Brains

Heavyweight
As Fast As You Can
Allowance
Rabbits
Will Someday Change

I'm sure they will be pulling out some other old ones, but I'm not as optimistic as some (or the band with their 45 songs comment, lol). I hope to be proven wrong though!

It could happen, they've played over 35 songs when touring each album since Steve has joined the band and that was without really trying to change things up too much. I'm very excited to see how this tour turns out.

I don't think every song they try out in rehearsal will make it into a show, so if they had a list of 45 songs for rehearsal, a few are bound to get nixed. I wouldn't be surprised by 35 - 40 songs in the first leg of the tour, and then more when the touring resumes later this year.
