Let him know I manually activated his account.

Corey, is this the same thing you were talking about earlier in the year/last year?

Thanks everyone for your support and help so far. I KNEW a place like this would give lots of support, but that activation email thing really stymied me. Extra big thanks to OlpManiac and xjsb for getting me going here!

I read through that thread about getting OLP on the Rock Band Network and that would be just as awesome as official DLC, in my book. One caveat: currently, RBN doesn't support pro guitar/bass, which doesn't make a difference to me, but might matter for those who hope for pro charts. Another concern about RBN is that PS3 may never see it (due to a 5 RBN songs a week limit Sony has imposed) and Wii definitely will never see it due to the discontinuation of RBN on Wii.

Has the band expressed an opinion about being in a music game previously? I can't help but notice they've NEVER been in one, and I can't help but worry that it's their decision to stay out. I would've asked myself, but around the time I started the Facebook campaign, they were up to their necks in Occupy Wall Street and Stop The Mega Quarry, so I felt kind of silly about bringing it up to them. "Uh, yes, excuse me, guys... Would you mind putting your activism on the backburner so I could play Clumsy on a plastic instrument?" haha Just seems like they had much bigger fish to fry, which was fine by me because I wanted to get a sizeable amount of support first. I'm rambling. I'm sorry. I am just really excited about the prospect of getting some honest-to-goodness support for this.

I'm thinking this question got asked at a live show, or online chat some time back. I think the biggest limitation they have, is the majority of their radio hits are owned by Sony, and I believe Sony has done all they intend to with the band. Still, it would be cool for those who love to play the game. Keep on pushing for it! The worst that can happen is it doesn't get in the game. Welcome to the board!

Oh, major record labels... They like to shoot themselves in the foot, don't they? That's ok. They're part of the reason for this whole campaign, too. In fact, the original question I posed to the Rock Band forums was "How can we get uncooperative labels to license music for Rock Band?" and this campaign was the only (legally safe) idea that came of it. Our Lady Peace is my pilot attempt at this concept because I love them and they've never been in a music game before. Sony might be "done" with OLP (and they missed the boat with A Decade), but I like to think that if the campaign gets enough support, they might decide it is financially in their interests to play along with Harmonix. In the meantime, Coalition was the label for Burn Burn, so they might be more accommodating. Not to mention the upcoming album (which my cursory glances at a few sources can't find the label of) is a candidate as well...

Rerecords are also a possibility, as far as the game is concerned. The likes of Third Eye Blind and Kiss have done rerecords to get around various contract hurdles, so it's not unheard of. The Rock Band community usually throws a hissy fit about rerecords, but oh well. Rerecorded OLP is better than no OLP.

Now that Google+ has decided to implement pages, I made one over there, too. It's largely a direct copy of the Facebook one, but I figured hit both communities. It's here if anyone is interested.

Finally, Harmonix really goes to bat for the community (though moreso when it makes financial sense for them) and they have a lot more established pull with record companies. So requesting stuff and showing how rabid we are about getting OLP through the official avenues will help a lot, too. The Rock Band song request form (no signup required) is here and the official Ultimate Setlist forum post (RockBand.com account required) is here

Hey. The work I did last year was on my own. I used RawkSD to import customs. This appears to be an effort to officially release the songs. You know... the legal way. :D

Hey guys, so Rock Band has now added a Facebook app to let people make wishlists for bands we want to see in the game. If you're on Facebook, consider going there and adding Our Lady Peace to your wishlist.
https://apps.facebook.com/rockbanddashboard/
Let's show our support for Our Lady Peace and get them on the "Most wished for artists" list!

Unrelated to OLP note: They also show the lists of most requested artists, which is a pretty interesting list considering most of the bands on it (as I write this) have, one way or another, made it clear they won't do it (Led Zeppelin) or have given very difficult terms for their music (Tool needed their own venue in Guitar Hero: World Tour, Guns & Roses are infighting, I've heard Pink Floyd has a contract stipulation that songs on an album must all be sold together).

They're currently #26 in the top 100 "most wished for artists of all time" list! We can get them higher!
EDIT: 24! You guys are fast!
EDIT EDIT: Bleh. 30+. And I won't even speak my opinion of some of the "bands" or "artists" ahead of them, but OLP deserves to be MUCH higher :-(

I wish ya luck with the effort on the DLC Support page. Be nice to see them show up as DLC before Harmonix checks out for good.

Just saw this posted:

Proposed RBN Kickstarter Campaign to Pursue Major Label Artists

Lots of info in there but here is the OLP related part:

--------------------------------------

It’s going to take a bit before we have all the T’s crossed and the I’s dotted before we can start the first one. We do have some very interesting things in the pipeline brewing. Now I can’t reveal song titles but to give you an idea of the types of bands we’re going after with this project (and REMEMBER like all things any band on this list could fall through at any part of the process.)

Red
Chevelle
Our Lady Peace
Weird Al
Warrant
Motley Crue
Autograph
Andrew W.K.
Bloodhound Gang
Scorpions

That’s just a small sample of the types of bands we’re talking with labels about bringing into the game. Once we know pricing for the licensing we’ll break them down and say this is the exact songs we’re licensing and this is the amount we’ll need to do so.

----------------------------------------------

It's just a Kickstarter program and not much to go on, but it's nice to see there are people who are showing some OLP love and trying to get them in Rock Band.
