TEDx GTA HOLDS SECOND TORONTO MIND-SHARING EVENT
Toronto, ON (April 20, 2010) – Brilliant presentations on current events, trends and ideas by authoritative commentators will once again highlight the next independently organized TEDxGTA event -- taking place May 18 in the SHAMBA Space, 48 Yonge Street, 12th floor. Featured speakers at this TEDx GTA meeting will include:
• Greg Taylor, Co-founder of Steam Whistle Brewery
• Josephine Coombe, VP, Bullfrog Power
• Rosemary McCarney, President and CEO of Plan Canada
• Dr. Elizabeth Edwards, University of Toronto Professor
• Tim Rudkins, Managing Director, Green Enterprises Toronto and
• Raine Maida, lead singer of Our Lady Peace (via video conference)
They will share their candid vision and expertise and elaborate on the topic of “Sustainability” – a concept that takes many turns today and, increasingly, has as many definitions as there are people willing to define it. The starting point, however, usually focuses on environmental choices made today as well as potential solutions for tomorrow that will enable future generations. The question may well be, is the future sustainable?
TEDTalks are about the innovative Technological, Entertainment and Design initiatives that are shaping our society today. This interactive and collaborative event takes place Tuesday, May 18 at 5:30pm at the SHAMBA Space (48 Yonge Street, 12th floor). Tickets are $50.00 per person. Dinner is included and space is limited.
About TED:
TED is an annual event where some of the world's leading thinkers and doers are invited to share what they are most passionate about. "TED" stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design — three broad subject areas that are, collectively, shaping our future. In fact, the event is broader still, showcasing ideas that matter in any discipline. Attendees have called it "the ultimate brain spa" and "a four-day journey into the future." The diverse audience — CEOs, scientists, creatives, philanthropists — is almost as extraordinary as the speakers, who have included Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Frank Gehry, Paul Simon, Sir Richard Branson, Philippe Starck and Bono.
