NYC????

Postby JabsTinyMusic » 1/17/2010, 11:05 pm

So I'm thinking about buying tickets to the Buffalo shows, but honestly that would be a lot of $$$ if I have to pay for gas from NYC and back and 2 nights in a hotel... I would hate to lay down all that money only to find out that there is a NYC plan in the works... After the Irving Plaza show back in July, there is no doubt in my mind that they could sell out both nights quickly... SO, does anyone have any "insider information" that might help me make this decision....PLEASE HELP!!!!

I wouldn't hold out -- buy the tickets if you want to see these shows. If a show in NYC is announced, you have plenty of options to go to NYC only (and sell the Buffalo tickets) / or go to both cities.

yea, i would just get the buffalo tix. I live in NY, and when this tour was announced I was going to wait to see if they came to the city, but i decided that it's stupid to wait and this is a once in a lifetime chance...so i'm making the trip to toronto. If they come to NYC.. sweet..if they don't atleast you didnt miss an amazing tour. GO TO BUFFALO! ur not gonna regret spending the money, it's going to be well worth it :)

If they do the NYC it probably won't be till Early April or June.. There is amonth off between shows. ( late March till early April). I have a feeling there will be more shows added then as they get closer. It also would not be odd if they did Buffalo, then say somewhere in Ohio then ,Penn down to NYC.. That is only my opinion though and based on no concrete facts..

When I saw Raine in December he told me there is a NY date. Whether he meant Buffalo or The City I can not really say> I could of sworn he told me NYC-but only that. No date was given.. Besides I highly doubt he say to me " we are playing NY if he meant Buffalo. He would of said Buffalo. I did not ask if him if they were playing here.. He just said it when I asked him something about the shows.. HIs words were. "We are going to do NY"

If/when date is annouce it will be all over.. As of now there is not rumoured date, or scheduled date. I have no clue where they could play. Except Beacon Theatre( only holds about 2000) or HOB in Atlantic City.

It is up to you. If you realy wanted to see teh band get tickets. As people here said you could always sell them.

Also Greyhound and Jetblue have specials to Buffalo from time to time..

I had this same dilemma - even posted in another thread about it...
I can't afford the travel to toronto or buffalo, so just have to hope...
I don't know, I don't know, I just don't know - If I can't be there, I know it's best that nothing is denied.

(Wait a sec, if I can't be there, then I'm denied the show - dammit, that doesn't work at all...)

Bought my buffallo tickets... got 2 single seats for the spiritual machines show, first and second row from the stage, one all the way to the left and one all the way on the right. LOL. I will wait to buy a ticket for the clumsy show, in hopes that there are NYC dates.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do NYC. But my girlfriend and I aren't gonna miss Buffalo since if I go visit her in Syracuse, it's closer. NYC's closer to both of us when we're home, but farther than Buffalo when we're at school. If they do NYC and we're home, great, I'll be there :) if not, at least I'll see the 2 Buffalo shows!
Don't always know what's right, perhaps we never will. But we'll put up a fight, so we can have free will, and we can have the choice; the choice to decide. Make up your mind, who is wrong or right? And who slipped through the cracks? Will we all just watch and sit down in the back? Or will we have to face our fears, and finally learn to act?

You know, I've made mistakes. I've had my ups and downs, my ins and outs, my share of bad breaks. But when it's all been said and done, I'll raise my beer and I'll swear God, it's been fun!

So, since March is officially here and we still haven't heard about NYC dates for the tour, I'm growing more and more pessimistic. NYC has been great for the guys - when Naveed came out, they did a bunch of shows here within just a few months, not only headlining small rooms (Wetlands), but also opening up for the Ramones and Van Halen (granted those shows were just outside the city), not to mention a major radio gig at Bryant Park (Where are Paw and Tripping Daisy today?) They had an industry record release show at the Elbow Room when Clumsy was released, and have stopped here for every tour that was supporting an album since then... I just think that since this tour is, at least in part, a thank you to the fans, NYC needs to be included... I'm still holding out hope, but starting to think it's not gonna happen...

I really think they are going to announce more American dates. Don't give up hope yet!

It’s making it a better place.” ~ Raine Maida

Unless things changed they were suppose to play the USA in spring. Canada in Winter-Spring and USA Spring-Summer. This was mentioned last Oct though so who knows if anything changed. \

As for NYC who knows. They have off a month between the Canadian dates so anything can be done there. Also they can do something after the Canadian tour. I doubt that Detroit and Buffalo are the only USA dates..

We will know when and if this show happens. If they do the whole SM/Clumsy thing with VIPS it might be best if they get booked into HOB in Alantic City. I have no idea where they could play in NYC.. They always play the same places when here.

Irving/Filmore
Hammerstein Ballroom

It would be cool if they could ever fill RCMH but that is wishful thinking.. They still do not get the support of media here.. Though RXP did play them when Burn Burn came out,-now not so much..

I would just try to catch the Buffalo show(if possible)

When did they open for the Ramones and where. I never heard of that one before. I never did see the Naveed shows. Was working and not the way I am now.. ALthough came thisclose to Halen at Jones Beach. I was suppoe to go with friends, but at last minute they bailed and JB is such a bitch to get to if you do not drive so I did not go..

Can I just say I miss WETLANDS. Saw alot of good shows there before it closed..

Since you mentioned Elbow Room did you ever see the Tramps show? You seem like you went to a bunch back in 95.

Clumsygirl - I hope you're right (fingers crossed)

Tattooed - April 8, 1995 - my then girlfriend's birthday and I surprised her with tix to see her favorite band, the Ramones, at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY... I wanted to get there early to see D Generation, who were enjoying minor success with a single called 'No Way Out'. So we did, get there early that is. I couldn't have cared less about Our Lady Peace - some christian rock band I'd never heard of, but they'd give us time to get drinks and find our seats...

Well, needless to say - my life changed that night, OLP destroyed the room - they were unbelievable... I sat through the set just in shock at what I was hearing, and then to my surprise, they played Starseed - a song I'd heard once or twice on the radio and loved but had no idea who sang it. One of the best shows I've ever been to. Bought Naveed the next day.

As far as Tramps, no - didn't even know they played there - but I loved that venue - saw a ton of great shows there, including the Foo Fighters first NYC performance, when they opened for Mike Watt and Friends supporting Ball Hog or TugBoat. The Elbow Room show (the only time I've ever been there) was mostly industry, but I was fortunate enough to win tickets from the Transparent Humans board. The only Naveed shows I saw were The Ramones show, the Wetlands show and the Bryant Park K-Rock show (or was it Q104.3?)... The Wetlands show was the single best concert I'd ever been to until the Spiritual Machines Irving Plaza show...

Capitol/PORT CHESTER/D GENERATION. damn I feel so freaking old. I know all about that place. Though never been. My friend lived in Port Chester so been there a few times. I saw D- Deneration at Cooney Island High. I think Jesse was part owner or something.

The Bryant Park show was Q104. I did not go. It was 4th of July I know that much. Jer told me something about that show. I just looked and him and said get out. He said to me remember when Raine did this at Bryant Park? I said I was not at that show. He then said you should of been. Even the band though I saw them back then.

I heard of them in 94/95 cause Starseed was played on a station here.YOu aid you heard it once or twice but had no idea who sang it. For me it was I remember the name(OLP) but never the title. I think it took me a year before I learned the title.. Can not remember what it was called cause no longer around. They played metal and alternative music then. I got Much Music then and just feel in love with them. I kept missing them when they played here. I remember talking to this guy at an IME show in 96' telling him how much I loved OLP and he said they would be back that year. DO nto think they ever made it back till 97' when I finally saw them. Superman's Dead is the song that did it for me. The song that made me do whateve it took tosee them live.. Been going ever since.

I saw D-Gen at Coney Island High, too - we may've been at the same show (small world...) And yeah, Jesse had a stake in that club...
Saw a few great shows there, including seeing Therapy? (remember them?) one of the few times they played the states...

The only tour of OLP's I've missed a show on since then though, was the Happiness show at Hammerstein... still regret not being able to go...

That was the Creed show? I was there.

Been to every NYC show since Fall of 97'. Except the radio IRVING show night before Hammerstein I knew it was CREED but OLP and Oleander played also.

Ahh, I miss living in CT and being able to see OLP without having to drive 3 hrs and cross a border!

My first show was in Port Chester at the old Capitol Theatre...I was an intern for the X107 radio station at the time. Was lucky to see every NYC show (every tri-state area show for that matter!) after that up until 2001 Irving shows, which happened on the same day my mom passed away.
Amazing how 15 years have passed and I am still hooked.

OH yeah, those shows with Creed and 3EB were certainly painful. I remember walking out of Irving Plaza right after Creed...which shocked the hell out of a security guard. I told him the best band had already played!

I hope you NY'ers get some more OLP love soon!

Peace.

I remember you saying April will be 15 years since your first OLP show. My first show was about 13 years ago(although have been into them since 94/95) You are right. Amazing how we are still hooked. Not many old timers are still around.. I hope some come out of the woodwork for the upcoming shows.

I walked out of the 3EB shows also.. Creed I liked so stayed for the Hammerstein show. Walked out in Philly..

I also remember Raine dedicating Imagine to you in Rhode Island.. He said to me afterwards you know Matt's mom died. I said yes I know.. Aww got to love Raine..

I still haven't booked my West Coast trip yet.. Air Canada has a sale now also. I really wished they were cloing in Vancouver. It would of been cool to see you again. Been way to long..
