I'd say it's about time for a new single. Sure the song became a hit in Canada, but it doesn't seem to be able to hold itself on the charts for a reasonable amount of time. It fell from 12 to 51 in 3 weeks. That's a bit ridiculous.

I realize the next single will most likely be Dreamland, but I say they should go on an unconventional route. As I've said before, they won't have another hit until they stop trying so hard to have one. So release something kind of strange but has an good hook. My vote is for Monkey Brains. It would stand out on the radio, but if a few stations got behind it, that chorus is a strong enough hook to help the song and album gain momentum.

Monkry brains needs to be the next single. People are expecting a naveed sound give them that and you will a resurection of the band in the rock world

I'm strongly thirding a Monkey Brains single. Trusty you should pass this on to the band, it will really get a lot of their older fans to take interest.

I don't really think it matters which song OLP releases as a single. As an independent band I don't see them getting airplay.

I hear them at least twice per day with AYD here in Regina on our rock station (Wolf 104.9). They are headlining a concert here in July though, so that might help. But they are a popular band in Canada, so I think they'll get airplay even as independents. On top of AYD I hear at least 1 or 2 other OLP songs every day on the wolf or jack fm (mix of pop/rock).

It's the US where they will suffer for being independent.

Very true. I think they'll do fine in Canada though. However, I don't expect the record to sell all that well. Maybe Spritual Machines level at best? Who knows. It depends on their next single. I agree that it needs to be a different choice than would be expected. Dreamland may be catchy, but so was AYD. Catchy fills airspace, but unique is what sells rock records.

Monkey Brains is an obvious choice. I think White Flags could do it too.

As an aside, AYD in Regina is at #5 for rock, and is still rising. So I'm sure it's doing reasonably well in other Canadian places as well.

It builds pretty much the way I expected it to, but I'd still pick Monkey Brains or White Flags over it for a single, I think.

#4 on Canadian Rock Charts (Green Day, Nickelback and Billy Talent are ahead of them for now..) and top 20 in terms of national airplay (the black eyed peas and jonas brothers and all that other garbage is top 10). So it's doing pretty darn well in Canada.. but that was to be expected.

That said, I agree with everyone else here. While I think tracks like Dreamland or The End Is Where We Begin are catchy as hell.. i'd love to see them release Monkeybrains and then one of the above tracks. Time to remind everybody that OLP can still amp it up when need be.

I'd love to have a heavier track (Monkey Brains or White Flags) and then a softer one, like Signs of Life or Never Get Over You (from what we've heard).

However, don't stop at 3! Clumsy had what, 5 singles? That's awesome! Now, it was such a solid album that it was inevitable. But from what I've heard I think Burn, Burn could support at least 4.

I hear AYD lots now, sometimes on the rock stations, sometimes on the pop stations. I agree that they should put something out that's a little harder for the second single. AYD lacks balls, and Monkey Brains has it.
