They actually had a special on MTV about a school like this in Texas. I don't know why people would do something like that. It's completely stupid. It's not like being gay is a disease, so why should they have their own, special school? I mean, if kids want to go to a school like that, more power to them, but they should go to a normal public school and interact with everyone. People aren't that homophobic anymore.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

as a parent would you rather have your homosexual son or daughter beat up on and taunted in a public school? or learning and prospering from a comfortable environment?
I'd want my kid to be in the best environment for him or her. If s/he is getting beaten up, taunted, picked on, or alienated because of their sexual preference than I really don't think they'd be able to learn and grow under those circumstances. Just because some kids can handle it, doesn't mean others can, and I'd much rather take my chances with my kid and put them in a school where he can learn peacefully, than keep them in a place that they don't want to be.

Alan, let's face it, kids will pick on other kids. It's not always about being an asshole. It's a fact. It's called homophobia. If you think all kids who get beaten up or picked on deserve to be in these situations, than I guess you grew up in a very different surroundings than I'll ever know.

I think that one's sexuality is a very private issue and when kept private is much easier to deal with. Also I think a lot less emphasis needs to be put on this idea of sexual preference. If everyone just kept an open mind to their own sexuality and sexuality in general things would be easier. I'm just thinking that if a thirteen year old kid goes to this school because he thinks he is gay (for whatever reason) then being at that school will basically finalize the decision. Whereas if everyone just kept an open mind and just let themselves be attracted to whomever the should be attracted to, we wouldn't have to worry about labels like gay or straight. I'm not sure if I'm being completely clear but it's like this . . . I'm a guy who is generally attracted to women, I've never been attracted to a man, but I'm not saying that it isn't possible for me to be someday attracted to a man, and to call myself 'straight' would be denying myself of being attracted to almost fifty percent of the population. I hope some of that made sense.

hey, i really respect you for saying that man, very good point. labels of this sort are pointless.
seperating kids would not solve any problems. the kids in the 'normal' school would become even more ignorant about gays by having no contact with them. instead more education should be put in schools at a young age to encourage open-mindedness and acceptance. of course, that will never happen, because then mr. stockwell gay will run over with a stick up his ass and tell us how we can't be teaching that *gasp* there's nothing wrong with being gay. corrupting young minds and such
