Okay, new problem, and I need your help on this one...
My dad wants me to drive to Toronto, for the 401 experience and whatnot. And I'm okay with that, I don't mind driving, except for one thing. One simple request...
I asked to listen to my music while I'm driving (hoping to listen to the Live CD). Because driving down a straight highway at a semi-constant speed can get a little boring, and I wanted something to listen to that wouldn't drive me mad (ie not Country and Pop).
My mom's answer: No. We don't like your music, and you have to concentrate on the road.
My dad's answer (when asked separately): No. I don't like your music.
Is this too much to ask? I mean, when they're driving, we listen to their music. When I'm driving with them in the car, we listen to their music.
I just don't want to drive for that long, with nothing to do but listen to their crap.
I'm considering just saying "If I can't listen to my music, I won't bother driving at all."
I know this all sounds pretty trivial, but it goes beyond this. I'm constantly treated like a 5 year old, who's thoughts and opinions can be cast aside with a simple "no". I'm sick of it, and this is the last straw. I'm not giving up on this one. I mean, I just want to listen to something that will keep me from going insane with boredom while driving. Sure, it's okay for them to demand their music while driving, but since I'm younger my requests obviously don't matter.
Any ideas on how I can convince them to let me listen to my music while I drive?
