drinking and driving

Serious discussion area.

Yeah, although I disagree with drinking, I absolutely detest smoking. I can relate to you with the whole second-hand smoke thing. I go to school and people think I smoke because it's on my clothing, that's how much my mom smokes. It's disgusting. She gets really mad whenever anyone brings it up also.

Me too .. I think smoking is gross and disgusting. I have no desire to try it and never will, nor will I date someone who smokes. I don't mind people who smoke weed and I don't mind drinking .. but cigarettes are so wrong.

The reason I look down on people who smoke cigarettes is cuz my Dad had a heart attack about 7-8 years ago .. he was a regular smoker .. so I automatically link smoking to death now and it scares me. That's why I have a hard time with people who smoke. I don't really look down on people for it ..

Smoking is your choice. I just don't appreciate going into the bathroom to take a piss and coming out smelling out like ass. Keep the unpleasant smells within their boundaires, please.

Don't lump everyone into one category though. I don't drink to be "cool" or to "fit in" ... maybe when I was younger like 16 or so but I'm too old now to give a damn about what others think now.

Plus a lot of the people participating in this discussion are all under age or haven't even had a drink yet .. so it's one thing to be of legal age and know what it's like and a completely other thing to be under age and having never tried a drink before. You can't look down on someone for something you've never tried.

They do. But I don't understand why you'd want to smell like more of an ass by smoking. The ass-ness of the bathroom is bad enough, let alone the ass you smell like when you smoke. You look like an ass while smoking, you smell like one.... If your goal is to be an ass, then by all means light up. Jackass.

legal age is a dumbass law imposed by a nanny-state.

if you think you're old enough to drink, then you can. if you later live to regret it, well, that was a choice you made. it's the same thing as when you think you're old enough to wipe your own ass, or tie your own shoes.

it's a choice that the individual makes for himself. it's got nothing to do with the government, or you, or I, or anybody else. It's up to him. You can only make choices for you.

if a 10 year old girl chooses to have sex with a 40 year old man.. that's her choice too then huh?

Emily wrote:sorry, but boxing is stupid. its basically trying to kill the other person in the ring, but not. sports like tennis are not about contact. the only thing you touch is the ball, and the worst that could happen is you fall and hurt yourself. all the sports accidents you mentioned are probably contact sports. take up running. "ooh the wind knocked me down and now i'm paralyzed." no one said all sports have to be about contact. take up fucking ping pong. kids have to make mistakes to learn? no they dont. some are intelligent enough to know not to do something the first time around. i do not think i am invicible in the least bit. their mistake their lives? but that doesnt work when their mistake interferes with other peoples lives, like in the aforementioned website on the first page. most kids are too young to handle drinking, more or less driving.

wow your pretty ignorant of the sport boxing. tennis elbow, there...i said it. as for running, the constant beating of your foot on pavement is dangerous too. cycling is better for those who have poor circulation in the legs. but i'm not worried about the troubles of sports. now kids do have to make mistakes in order to learn, but it's not the whole part of the education pie. now alot of kids are smart enough to know not to do wrong things, but alot do it anyway. other's don't know. young people party hard, take risks, and do things they shouldn't everyday. do they care of the consequences? most don't, that's why i say alot think they are immune. then when they are old they think they didn't raise enough hell. and what did i say when the kids make mistakes that interfere with yours? nothing is going to stop the event that took place. because it already happened. you can say that kids shouldn't drink or pass laws and what not, but it's still going to happen somewhere. you can only hope to lower the numbers and try and inform the public, but guess what, it's already too late for yesterday's underage drunk. it sucks, i know but that's life. that doesnt mean that underage drinkers are not responsible drinkers. some are.

but lets get back to the "stupid sport" you know nothing about boxing, that's obvious. two people don't enter the ring trying to kill each other. they compete in hand to hand combat, not brawl. they set up combinations and use alot of footwork in the events, not swing wildly or chase each other. if you were to put paint on the bottom of two fighters feet while they boxed, by the end of the fight you would have this awsome looking painting on the canvas. it's like chess, setting up the opponet until your ready to put him away. there is more bravey in most boxing rings then you can even imagine. it's the loneiest place in the world in my opinion. just you, the opponet, and one guy to make sure your doing things right. but we could go back to the bare knuckle brawls of the olden days, that lasted 100+ rounds or until someone either passed out or died. compared to it's history, today's boxing isn't shit. and to ignorantly say that one person goes into the ring trying to kill the other is insensitive....because my cousin has gone through that expirience. he beat a guy from columbia that later died in a hospital. i had that guy's last words to his mother on my sig for a while. do you honestly think he didn't feel bad about it? Gabe is fighting a good fighter named Freijtas on showtime pretty soon. he has never been the same after killing Jimmy Garcia. these are people too. do me a favor and watch a fight, before you say something like that. and this time take in consideration the harsh training, the tatics it takes to box, and the person's background.

if it's her choice, yes. if he forces her, no. let the individual make up his/her own mind.

raise your kids to respect themselves and they won't be sleeping with any forty year olds. ask the state to rasie your kids and you're taking chances.

i've never got tennis elbow. as long as you know how to swing right, you won't get it. plus no one brought it on myself but me (well, i never got it, but per se). but you still call boxing a "fight," don't you? in real life, fights are meant to wound, and in small cases, kill the other person. your cousin or whatever BEAT the guy who died as in Severely Pummeled. the only reason muhammad ali cant even sing the fucking national anthem is that he was hit in the head so many times. i really dont consider that fun. if you're going to fight, take up something like fencing. boxing might be about tactics, but it's still not worth however long the fight is, then dying in a hospital. of course there's risks with everything, but with some sports the risk is just too high, and SMART RUNNERS DONT RUN ON PAVEMENT.

Ali has parkinsons which cant be proved to have any link to his boxing

i have never heard of Michael j Fox in a boxing ring but wait until hes the age of Ali and he will probably be pretty much the same if they dont find anything for parkinsons by then

oh please, shut the fuck up. why don't you try fencing without a face mask on and see how many lashes you can get on it in five seconds. i never mentioned anything about parkinsons disease, but i'm also guessing michael j fox is a hell of a lot smarter than muhammad ali, not just because he was born with it. and people with parkinsons disease can sing the national anthem and form complete sentences. weak my ass.

no, they are called bouts. and the only reason this guy dies was because the referee let the fight go on way too long. the fight should have been stopped in the 9th round but it ended in the 11th. at one point Gabe pointed at Jimmy, looked at the ref, and asked him to stop it. he did not. and considering that this poor guy from columbia fought this fight because he was living out a dream and the money to move his family from a slum into a better home, i say he's a fucking hero. you could take up fencing, but what sport is the more popular one? witch one pays more? witch one is more accessible to the people who live in the slums of columbia? that's the greatest thing about boxing is that it has no bias on who you are, what color you are, or what tax bracket your from, if you work hard enough you will reap the rewards of your hard work. and city marathon runners don't run on the streets?

ok...i am against it which i should be since i am president of the local SADD group at school...my friends have jsut been involved in a drinking and driving accident. One was killed at the scene and two are injured. One more than the other. One is out of the hoepital and the one in the hospital is on 24 hour watch....the drive a very dear friend of my is phsyical fine but emotional very bad...i reely disagree with the decision they all made to drive with a drunk driver and to drive while under the influence...i just hope everyone thinks before they do sumthing like this..one mistake can harm your life and the lives of others!!!
and i'm supposed to be strong & have all the answers ... a cannibal in the new church of cancer ... but i'm nothing special i'm not unique ... i have many secrets & i eat the weak... and i'm at an end ... i'm at an end... and there's ... NO WAY OUT!!

i need to find my sanctuary ..... someplace safe ... gotta get this outta me ..... this is my escape
